evil holds hostage
ransom demand to honor
cricket is loudest
The perfect syllable count for the 5-7-5 form
Hope this come to an end in the very near future

To be honest, I wished my idea wasn't a good one, but I see no other way. Thank you so much for your compliments and this review. Mike

Yours is a well written senryu, I believe, Mike.
I hope Japan does not pay the ransom. It's just an encouragement for them to continue to capture innocent people and demand even more ransoms. Your thoughtfully chosen words make for a good write.
Take care. Alana

The problem is they would do it regardless, but when you pay the ransom, it just encourages them that much more. I thank you for your compliments and this review. Mike

You are right my friend, evil does hold hostages and cowards as well. This is a well thought out little poem which is direct and to the point. It is very well said. Thank you for sharing.

A price can't be put on a life or on freedom but I don't believe in doing what Isis asks either as they will just kidnap more and more. Good little poem.

Your poem is in good 5/7/5 syllable count - since it is more a thought/opinion/observation than it is a poem with concrete imagery, I wouldn't call it a haiku or a senryu, just a 5/7/5

I had the biggest blast putting that in the description as I was hoping those that consider the poem wonder if it is nature (of bad men) or something philosophically or spirituality base. I am wondering what is going on in Japan as you can no longer directly the Emperor who is a poet, or even the Prime Minister. What I filled out seemed more Atari like in design.
I thank you very much for your comments and review. Mike
