Hi Shari
I waitressed through school and Uni ... loved it ... always a "crabapple table" in the mix. Mostly I enjoyed great customers... who were great tippers. lol
A fun and ironical glance at the service industry ... well at those being served. Some are just horrible and rude. I can instantly add a few faces to that wonderful image ... and it was a hundred years ago. :))) Well done ... very funny. Hugs - Lovi xoxox

Thanks, Lovi. I've heard that smokers are the best tippers-- that was back when!

I can't remember Shari. I suppose there must have been smokers in the restaurants back then!! No memories of having smoke puffed in my face. Maybe they tipped better because of the dirty ashtray. Funny I can't remember cleaning ashtrays either. The chef and kitchen staff always smoked up a storm out back in the car park/alley.
I love crabapple customers ... I can really remember well the rudeness. Of course I focused on the fun and the nicer people. I do remember receiving lots of tips. Tipping was not a big deal back then like in the US... it sure was for a starving uni student ... well not starving. lol I don't think we eat crabapples here ... the tree are more in old fashioned gardens and decorative. :))) xoxoox

I like those. No sweet tooth. So true, nothing worse than having to listen to chronic complainers. It's usually at an all night dinner where one's expectations shouldn't be that high to begin with. If I where a minimum wage server looking at a 25 cent tip, I wouldn't refill their coffee either. Good one. mikey

Hello Spitfire, Very good. I especially liked:
crabapple table
(Ohhh, and I bet they're a very old crabapple table too -- rushing their life away ... can't get to that cemetery fast enough -- jk.)
Very good poem and senryu humor. Keep the blue waters flowing. LateBloomer

Thanks, LB. Hubby is becoming one of those crabapples. Hope I don't get that way. He's 4 and an half years older.

Crabapple and Spitfire will never fit in the same sentence. You can be sure of that. Smiles, LateBloomer

Aww, aren't you sweet. Thanks for the compliment.

Very clever. We had two crabapple trees and my mother insisted on making apple sauce with them and it was terrible. I didn't mind eating them off the tree but couldn't handle the apple sauce.

I remember them as being hard to bite into- but not that bad a taste. Long, long, long time ago. :-)

LOL. We went to Chilli's tonight. Big portions. I haven't been snacking all night. Also, I brought enough home for a warm-up meal tomorrow. :-)

LOL - you've got to tell me how you searched for that fantastic picture. Did you punch in apple faces? Another good one, girl. (But you knew that already, lol.) Hugs, Lou

Cute senryu.
Good alliteration in sour/slow/service and complain/crabapple.
Excellent picture that captures the meaning of the poem.
Amusing play on words.
Well done.

Ha ha. a great pic. This reminds me of so many of my friends who complain constantly about food and service. Never exactly sure just what their expectations are.

Some people just like to complain, not realizing how mean they sound.

tthey can be lone diners as far as I am concerned. they are usually negative people to begin with. TOXIC
