I admired your nonet and the accompanying artwork--I'm glad the crickets inspired you! I enjoyed the "serenade" metaphor. Smiles- Joan, from Tahoe

Hi Joan,
I hope Tahoe is wonderful. Thank you for taking time to read and give such gracious comments on this piece. I do like the crickets. Their song won't be lasting much longer this year so I am trying to enjoy it as much as possible.

I have to agree about crickets and moonlight, d. They are delightful. It just seems all is right with the world when the two are together. Thank you. Debi

Hi Debi,
I truly relate to this "chirping" poem. We have so many, and with the river near, it makes for an enjoyable evening treat. I appreciated you skillful approach to this theme...great nonet.
Thanks for the read...and best wishes, Bill

Wonderful use of description in your poem. Great use of metaphor as well. I like the flow of your poem. And the syllable count is great. I enjoyed reading your poem.

I too enjoy a good cricket serenade and they seem to have made a comeback here. Seeing a lot more grasshoppers too. I like your play/inclusion of chirp. It adds to the nonet lulaby.

This brought instant memories of living in USA twenty years ago and hearing the crickets in the evening. Here in Finland the summer is soon over and after the short autumn arrives long, cold winter.
Thank you for the lovely poem and a very nice artwork too :-)

I think most people enjoy hearing that evening whirring, it's such an integral part of summer. I love your description of a cricket serenade. It's just how they sound. Nice rhymes, well written.

w.j., this nonet is perfect in word and line count and is whimsical in its reminder of the sound that crickets make us feel at peace with nature. Well done. :0 GracieAnn

I hear the crickets now!
So well constructed to capture those familiar sounds of dusk.
Just enough rhyme as well as emotional wording that brings the imagery into focus and allows me to hear what the writer is describing.
The four phrases that I think make this poem sing with meaning are: chirp night's orchestra; sweet syncopation; soothing lullaby and cricket serenade.
Nicely done.

I love crickets, they really do make a loud noise, but it definitely signifies summer and we hope it lasts a bit longer. Nice use of alliterative language and rhyme to convey your message. Faye

I love them too. It seems from the comments I'm getting, either people love them or do not like them. I happen to find the sound soothing. All is well if the crickets are chirping. Thank you for the kind comments about the writing too. Debi
