Thank you for the kind review, Brooke. You say such encouraging things. I need to take your free verse class later this year and learn more about the free verse form. But I am having fun experimenting for now.

Whenever you want to take it let me know so I can list it :-)
-
Probably in the fall, Sept - Dec. I have more time and money then.

sounds good to me :-)

Hi debi,
This is a great piece of free verse. The simplicity of the lines adds to the poignant sense of uncertainty and loss.
Very well done. Touching.
Have a lovely week!

You're asking what the tear means? It all depends on the situation which can fill in those empty spaces. Very nicely centered. Enjoyed immensely. Les

Beautiful poem. I love short lines, the few words, the focus on just one little thing - a single tear. Sometimes this kind of simplicity gives me (the reader) a wide berth to think, ruminate, let my imagination run hither and yon, in my life, who did I part with, who left me - were there tears? Along with the image, it's a beautiful presentation of a parting - never easy, never kind, always food for thought and poems and memories. Thank you very much for sharing.

Thank you, Maureen. Such encouraging words mean a lot coming from you because I find free verse a bit intimidating, but I wanted to give it a try. I am so pleased you liked it. Debi

This is beautifully written. I could feel every word and rhetorical question.
How simple a tear, yet how much its interpretation bothers. Beautiful.
The simpleness of the act itself carries much emotion, and the questions of the person spurned carries even more.
My only sadness is that I have no sixes to give this.
Beautiful.....and one of my pics for poem of he month.
Well done, WJ
pleasure reading this one.
Have a great day,
best wishes,
RGstar

Wow, this is such a complimentary review. Not only the virtual six stars, but poem of the month? I am overwhelmed and very grateful for your kindness. Thank you, RGstar. I was hesitant to post a free verse, but you make me glad I took a chance. I appreciate the encouragement very much. Thank you. Debi

This is a very power filled free verse.
Filled with much emotion. A single tear can mean any number of things. But only the person with the tear knows what it means.

Wow! This is pretty powerful free-verse, Debi. It reads so genuine, as if you were going through the experience as you wrote it.
How would one interpret such a tear? After all, we shed many tears in extreme times of sorrow and/or loss. But, just one? It would put my mind to wandering as well.
Very well done, melancholy and elegant...

You're welcome, Debi, and I know what you mean concerning free-style verse. Do ya'reckon we suffer a little from freeverseaphobia? (LOL)

Freeverseaphobia--I thnk you nailed it, Dean. LOL

Well, actually, I stole the word from ravenblack. But, what he don't know won't hurt him, heh-heh!

Hi Debi,
This was such a painfully, tender verse. The idea of one tear, with its many unknowns, was brilliantly portrayed. Your expressive thought invites the reader to experience the muses uncertainty as to the meaning of this action and its ultimate outcome. A, "solitary tear....to mingle with my own". Big sigh on that one! Nice job with this sensitive piece...all my best, Bill
