Exceptional

This one is superb. The imagery is off the charts. I especially like the use of short strong verbs that are formatted to stand alone. They give the rest of your verse a punch effect, kind of like a quick jab, if that makes any sense.

You took me on a journey with this one girlie! First a cool oceanside evening, then to the farm, and next to the bedroom you share with your lover. Interesting mix there! Lovely imagery and pacing on the trip : ) Enjoyed your second and fourth verses, and great finish with the ending line. xx

Mmmm, you do the ocean scene so darn well. Netting blue phosphorescence, dogs, owls, crickets. Even an errant rooster!

And...hot chocolate.

I'm sighing with envy.

Nice work, Sharyn.

Wonderful poem ... nicely done. It flows great and love the word choice. I love the picture and color choice, too. As always, your poetry doesn't let me down.

And thank you, Sharyn, for introducing me to 'Midnight Blue'... how sweet it is to be transported to a culmination of sights, scenes and details that only you, my dear friend, can put together for viewing by those of us less fortunate...

This poem is like a basketful of wonderment... a field of fresh flowers without the field or the fresh flowers but surely filled with the wonders from another place... one that you've taken me to... and I've gone willingly... oh so willingly!

As for this:

I sip
sweet 'n soothing
hot chocolate
and
wait

for you

to slip
in beside me
hip to hip
and breathe my breath

in midnight blue

A very, very lucky man!... he is!

What a lovely poem. The line, "palm fronds rustle," reminds me of my one trip to Hawaii, in November of 1972. We were in a hotel in Honolulu and I must have been on about the third floor. The windows were left open during the night and I remember hearing the palm fronds in the light breeze. Well done.

Great image of the moon, can't tell if it's been digitally manipulated or not and you don't mention it? Excellent imagery throughout and nice alliteration telling the story of the stillness, sounds and sensations of the night as you wait for your lover's company. You're good at these different layout poems Sharyn. Well done, Garth

Very poetic and touching piece, Sharyn. love the way you describe the animals stirring in the moonlight and going about their business. It's really lovely. As always, it reads well aloud too.
