This is very well written my friend so many of us look in a mirror and don't appreciated what we see we are in fact seeing a lifetime of happiness and sadness in each one of our faces and we are the only ones that have the answers well done regards Jill

Thank you Jill, for this lovely review. They do say some faces are open books, but it takes some a long to read them! I'm pleased you enjoyed it. :) Sandra

I like this piece. It's amazing that without much rhyming this piece flowed really well. This piece contains a harmony that makes the reader want to dance. This piece speaks to me confidence. This piece is good. Good work.

Hi Sandra,

I enjoyed your poem very much and I love your attitude. Yes, we're all growing older, but we have shared so much in our worlds and can continue to do so. Good job with this free verse and thank you for sharing.

Thank you! What a lovely review! I am so pleased you liked it. I believe you must think positively or be depressed. I am in the middle on my autumn years, so got a little while to go yet! (With luck LOL) xsx Sandra

Suggestion - 'Passing years - Autumn shows' the "Years have passed, now Autumn shows" breaks the easy pace of the poem. Good pacing, cadence and alliteration. Question - are you really where you want to be? LOL.

Thank you Kay for your lovely and thoughtful review! No, not yet! I am keeping winter at bay for a while longer, LOL. I am still enjoying autumn! Thanks again, Kay, I will look at your suggestion, thanks for that. xsx Sandra

Very relatable sentiments to those of us in our Autumn years, Sandra!
Don't feel much different to what I did twenty years ago, so it's always a slight shock to see myself in the mirror! LOL
Nice to see you can approach your winter years with good cheer, too ;D
Regards, Barb

Dear Sandra,

This is a very positive poem, one that after reading makes you smile. In praise of a satisfying life. It flows extremely well for a blank verse poem. Well done.

I assume the picture on your profile is a grandaughter?

Warm regards,

Winslow

Hi Sandra

What a lovely poem, that shows the other end of your work so well.

I am so sorry about the lateness of my review, but I was taken ill on Friday night and have only just recovered. I had blinding head pains and they suspected a TIA (mini stroke), but I have had type 1 diabetes since 1972 and it turned out that it was more to do with that and the inherited migraine attacks my Mum has. So after a very rough weekend, so far, I seem to be okay now.

Well worth my 6 stars my very good friend.

Blessings

Spike

You should be very careful, Spike, my youngest brother has type 1 from the age on 1 and a half years old. Now my granddaughter, Chloe has it, she is on 4 injections a day. It is not an illness
you take lightly. No jokes on that one, Spike. I need your reviews, so just take care of yourself!!!!!!! Thank you so much for your wonderful review and 6 stars! You are a saint! (sometimes! LOL) Take care. xsx Sandra

Yes I know too well Sandra.
The head pain disguised what was happening with the blood sugar. Even after balancing out the blood sugar level the head pain remained. It felt as though I had a nail in the right eye. If someone could have taken the eye out and cooled it off I would have killed for it, the pain was that intense. Still, touch wood it's all normal now and I can get on and release my next pirate tale. Plus of course catch up with reviews.

    Blessings my friend.

Thank goodness for that. If you look through some of my reviews on this poem, you will see what it has brought out. Some of my FanStory friends need more than cheering up. That is one good thing about this site, we do share our hard times as well as our good. I am really pleased you feel better. xsx

I could so identify with this great poem. It was strange to read something that didn't rhyme superbly as per usual, but it was still fantastic all the same. Where did all those years go? I'm sure we all ask the question from time to time, but the good news is, we're all in the same boat!

Thank you so much, Alexis, it felt strange writing it, I kept wanting to rhyme! But I wanted to see if I could write this 'free style, blank verse' I have no idea what category it comes into! I am pleased you liked it though, I don't think you will see too many unrhymed ones from me, the brain wont let me write them,LOL! Thank you again. xsx Sandra :)

A very nice contrast between spring and winter which really interprets to years. It's how you lived your life that gives you satisfaction in later years. Sounds as if you're satisfied. Superb! Les

Thank you so very much, Les, for your wonderful review! Yes, I have had many good and sad times, but I couldn't have one without the other or my whole life would have been different. Does that make sense to you? Thank you again! xsx Sandra
