Perfect picture of Congress in session! Shari my friend, you have outdone yourself on this terrific naani; the wit and sarcasm is absolutely telling; thanks for sharing.

LOL. This seems to be a big hit. Everyone knows about political gutter mutter.

long tailed brown rats
race toward sewer party
drink vile tea while
engaged in gutter mutter
Nicely done.
And it looks just like them.
America is in such trouble, and not just financial.
A lot worse than most people can imagine...especially those who are in comas.

You can make a joke out of anything. Quite clever response.

Oh my dear this is a wonderful naani. I hate politics. Your picture is a wonderful addition also. I love the embedded message about the tea party. Priceless! Shirley

This poem makes one thing perfectly clear: you love political rallies. You've portrayed the participants masterfully as innocent, furry creatures, congregating at their local Best Western for spot of tea and some idle chit-chat.
Sounds divine!

Interesting interpretation DW or are you being sarcastic. I hate politics period. And the politicians for the most part act like rats.
-
I thought it was poetic irony, not so much sarcasm. I suppose that's why face to face sometimes works better than written messages.

What a "ratty" subject, Spitfire. Your naani has a lovely flow, more than the rats deserve. Your allusion (rats and political rally) works really well, and you include the reference to tea, as in "tea party." Great work, and in so few words whereas people write long op ed pieces on the subject. This was really well put together. judi

Reads like a routine trip to the Keystone Saloon where rats of every sort, shape, and size gather each afternoon and evening. Could be the water cooler or kitchen table too. I count 22 syllables and 4 lines.
I heard a lawyer say one time: "To be good at this job, Bill, you got to have a bit of the bastard in you."

That quote sounds about right!

You know the best minds of our age sit on capital hill. Even George W. has, reportedly, and IQ of 125.
That is something to think about.

I love 'gutter mutter', Shari - fun and clever term for wicked gossip, I assume.
I'm not sure about 'VILE tea' - though I assume it's a metaphor for their wickedness.
Clever and original naani - very entertaining and thought-provoking.
Best wishes, earl

Hi Shari
An intriguing naani poem for someone on this side of the pond.
I'm having guess which political part you are satirizing.
I know there's one called the Tea Party - could that be it?

Actually, I was knocking all political parties. Didn't connect tea until some pointed it out. Is it still raining out there?
