This is so cute. I like the fact that your daughter had to tell you about the new addition. Animals do have a way of working themselves into our hearts. The details and images were clear and I'm glad you have a talented beagle that can sing. ann

This is adorable!
I gasped when I read the part where Mark fell back into the recliner. Of course, I thought he was holding a newborn baby! LOL
I loved the surprise ending.
Your story made me smile.
A well written and entertaining read. :)

LOl, the things you do for your kids. Of course your wife wins, it's all part of the master plan, hers.
I can feel for you. My wife and two daughters control everything. Even the dog is a girl, lol. - Thesis

I sure enjoyed this story and the way you allowed the reader to believe you and your wife had another daughter. Well-worded and very entertaining story about your family. I have a few suggestions but didn't down the rating because I know you'll fix them if you agree with them. Best of luck in the contest with this great little story.
Blasting Peter Frampton's(,) "Do You Feel Like (We)we Do"(,) while painting the foyer of our new home.(this is a sentence fragment...so how about while I painted?)
(we)We were going
Quickly(,) I wrapped her in a blanket and attempted to hand her off to my daughter(,) Cindy(,)
I said to Mr. Hartman, (delete that and start this as a quote that "Although)although she is adorable and everyone seems to like her, her one eye is a little crossed, she's tiny and your asking price of $275 is a little steep.(") He wouldn't budge, and neither would I. When I said, ("Come)come on kids(,) it's time to go,(") Cindy started whimpering... new paragraph for your daughter's quote)"I l-l-love her, we can't go home without her."
I see this word mostly combined as purebred, but I'm not sure)pure bred Beagle.

Redrider... thank you for reading and reviewing. You typically are much harder on my work, so maybe I'm getting better. Thanks again.

It's a beagle! I was so confused at first, trying to figure out why your 12 year old daughter knew your wife was pregnant before you did. LOL
You do such a good job of misdirection until the reveal - the humor had me laughing out loud. This is so amusing and well told :-) Brooke

I am snickering, well, okay, I'm laughing, but only because I have a 'Mindy' of my own! Isn't it funny what you will do for your kids against your better judgement and then be greatful you did it afterwards? Thanks for sharing this terrific memory. Best of luck in the contest!
