ten stars! twenty stars! awesome poem. totally creative, witty, original, and even oddly romantic. ironic too since i was just telling you about my unrequited love poem 1776, to emily. i love elvis too, if i can dream being my fav, but pretty much anything he ever released does it for me. in fact my parents named me after elvis aron, im aaron. anyway, the idea alone for how you did incorporated the songs is great, but how you did it makes this that much better; i still don't have sixers back yet, but you've got some coming. wonderful job on this one too. love your work. just love it.

Thank you for such enthusiastic support. Please don't worry about not having sixes. You know, FS only allows two for the same artist in one month, so I think you've already been more than generous in kind words and minutes spent reading, abundant encouragement, etc. You needn't give a thought to stars. In so many ways your are incredibly generous. Thank you for that.

Absolutely wonderful, Merri. Haven't been on much lately--planning a wedding--but I am popping in when I can to cherry pick, and what a cherry I picked this time! :)
Love how you have incorporated his sing titles, although wasn't "the hound dog" a bit of a crier with not much class, and what's worse, she ain't never caught a rabbit ...

You are too sharp, John! Hahaha you crack me up!
I just wrote this to have an entry in the contest, and I don't even know the words to "Hound Dog" so I guess I'm not the fan I pretended to be. But I'm glad you liked the poem, even if it wasn't very sincere. :^) Glad to have your comments. You've been missed!

Sounds like you were truly an Elvis fan and still are. I can still see the women swooning. Very humorous and really well written entry for the contest. You have a good memory for his songs. In great form, of course. Love, Jean

I'm so glad to know, Jean, that I sounded convincing in my funny poem. In all honesty, I do enjoy many of Elvis' songs, but was never into "swooning" and was not even a huge fan, never went to his concerts, or saw his movies. However, I found him a very interesting person who was deeply spiritual and amazingly generous and kind, and probably widely misunderstood. He had a beautiful voice and an emotional way of singing that will always be popular. So, in that sense at least, I guess I am a fan. Thank you for reading and for your excellent review.

You certainly were convincing. Nice look at a gentle side of him. You did a good job. Love, jean

Of course, this deserves Six Stars, but the highest option on the rating is 5 --maybe someday I'll understand the system.
Jeep and I roared with laughter at this. So beautifully done!! No wonder, you are the winner. Congrats!
Now, all I have to do is check the contests and do some voting in the future.
Great job MissM.

Thank you Alaska... I appreciate so much your kind review, and am so happy that you and Jeep got a laugh. It is not easy to keep up with all the contests, I know. But we try.
I think you can give one person two Exceptional ratings in a month, and thats it. Or... only two are permitted in a week, period... to anyone. They are limited to make people be more stingy with them. :P Hugs, MM

No wonder you won the contest. This poem about Elvis is universal and unique at the same time. I loved him too (that could be the title of a song)! You have incorporated so many of his songs so easily in this wonderful poem.... the words just flow so easily. Congratulations and good job.

Thank you patti, for all the nice words. I appreciate your comments. There are many who love Elvis, even all these years after his death. (I think you should WRITE that song.)

Miss Merrie,
Reviewing your poem was my pleasure. I loved him too could be a title for a song about Elvis. I'll have to think about that one.
Patti :)

A very enchanting and entreating poem Merri, and you
met the writing prompts challenge, of a true unrequited
love! With sentiments and appeals likely Elvis would
have been moved to reply to! Nice to imagine so anyway.
Elvis is a legend that has lasted and will last
evermore apparently. This was as much a tribute to his
singing talent, as it was a prompt love letter; and I
think everyone can see and appreciate that...even me..
though not an Elvis fan per se. Great write...best of
luck in contest!!!!

Thank you so much Ronni. You are so understanding and perceptive, and I always appreciate your comments. This is a very nice review, especially for a non-Elvis fan. :-)

I really enjoyed the Dear Elvis Presley poem. I was enthralled at how you incorporated his songs into the poem and it flowed so seamlessly! It brought back so many memories. It was quite intense, I'm still blushing!

Well, dear abeetle, I thank you for this great review, and I hope you realize I'm not really in love with Elvis... but I do like many of the songs he sings. I'm so glad you read the poem and that you enjoyed a few good memories.
Hugs, MM

Well, here you are in another contest, yep!
Your poem cleverly used many of the song titles from Elvis' career, something that many heart sick girls wrote to him during his life time. Because your poem is from a more mature lady("Ahem!"), you did a much better job than any of those teeny-boppers that preceeded you.
You showed originality in your verse and structure, and I think that if you had written this to "The King" when he was extant among us that you would have received an engraved invitation to Graceland.

Hahahaha... that is so cute of you to say, Irish! Thank you for this very kind review. I have a friend who loves Elvis to death, (oops!) so I wrote as if I were Wilma as a teenager. I'll share it with her eventually. Thanks for reviewing.

I'm enjoyng reading these love letter entries. It is a very diverse group of entries with very different approaches--some funny, some serious. Most, well done! I, too, loved Elvis. Loved how you brought so many of his best songs into this love letter. Best of luck in the contest. Sue

Thank you so much Sue, for the warm comments. I think a lot of people loved Elvis, and could have written the very same poem. LOL

I'm having a deja vu moment here - did you write on this same topic in the past? Either that or there is some other Elvis fan on the site too! LOL This is a fun love letter in poetic form to Elvis - he is not my guy, but I could imagine writing this to a few other celebs :-) Brooke

I wouldn't be surprised if someone else has written a similar poem, since it seems there are many reviewers who say they love Elvis. I only thought of writing this when trying to come up with a response to the writing prompt, and I do have a friend who loves all things Elvis. I thought I'd put myself in her shoes. This is the result. Thanks for the favorable review. I hope you at least recognized some of the song titles?
-
oh yes - I had a best friend who dragged me to all the Elvis movies when we were grade school girls :-)
