A slice of life. I love her mother. Sounds like Terence's old teacher was toooo close to the boy. It could be for many reasons. We tend to jump at pedophile shadows.
Like Salem witches. You write well. Love to you and yours. Karen

I wonder what it would be like going through my school in Spain. It would be scary. I went to catholic, the teachers were awful.

Another compelling chapter. You are such a great story teller.

Have a very happy Christmas.

Catholic schools always sounded like a horror story to me. Thank you for this. Gretchen

Hahaha. I love the ending. Very cute.

The first part, though, I have to say didn't feel authentic to me - Miranda just happening to be in the same hallway when Terrence and the pedophile were there, her chatting Terrence up, the pedophile being unaware. Usually predators have their antennae WAY up no matter what, but in a situation like that, I would imagine his having them on the highest of high alerts. Also, I have a lot of boy students Terrence's age, and they KNOW me and hardly talk. I can't see Terrence offering up those words to Miranda. I see him more squirming @ the idea that a stranger-grownup could assess his vulnerability on sight like that and just wnting to bolt.

I liked the exchange between Miranda and Elaine, and I loved Miranda's description of the difference between posters now and when she was in school. That was priceless. Xo

I went back and read it. You're exactly right. Gonna have to have her be snooping. Not just a chance encounter. Lol. She's good at snooping. Thank you so much for this. Gretchen

Miranda has perhaps saved young Terence from a reprehensible situation by her actions. Hopefully that will be the end of that. But we know she isn't done with Tomlin yet.

I loved her interactions with her mother while she was cleaning out her house. This description, "a fake fur jacket that looks like something Wilma Flintstone would have worn for a night on the town," was outstanding. Now we can see where Miranda got her smarts from too. Her momma's pretty clever.

Good chapter, Gretchen.

I love Miranda's mum! LOL, I'm learning from her!!! She is one very clever lady. We have already done all that having downsized our home. We live in a much smaller home now, plenty big enough for the two of us and still have a spare bedroom if anyone wants to stay. But I think we have already started another lot of junk hiding in our cupboards, so once my eyes are able to see properly I'll tackle them.
I had to wait until this morning to be able to give you a six, a five would never do this story justice. I love your Miranda character, she is really one of us. Well done, my friend! Have a wonderful Christmas, and a brilliant 2025! Love Sandra xxx
I won't be on here until the New Year now. I'll be resting my eyes. Hopefully I will be getting the cataracts out in February. That's what they have told me now, but we'll see. They said it would be done before Christmas, so, who knows! :( xxx

Hope your eyes are better. I followed suit and took a couple of weeks off as well. I needed it. Thank you so much for this wonderful review. Gretchen

Glad that Terence is no longer in Tomlin's class. (What a creep!) Elaine doesn't show much in the way of courtesy to the one who is actually caring for her grandson - and I gather she doesn't bother interacting with Waylon? Still enjoying Miranda's straightforward character and common sense - and her integrity.

Waylon isn't Elaine's grandson. He is a student. Miranda was married to Elaine's son years ago. Thank you so much for this. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas. Gretchen

Hello Gretchen,
you have mastered the art of story telling. I don't know why I don't have my stash of sixes yet, maybe Santa knows what's in my heart and is withholding them. This is most certainly great material. I always kind of like to go back over things that have been stored for awhile. Now when I do that, I look at things realizing that I'll probably never get a chance to use them again- fishing gear, tools, clothes I've grown too fat to wear. I just can't stand to part with some of it. Some I've given away, and some I've got listed in my will for the kids and grandkids like my stamp collection or guns. We give them assuming that they will have the same appeal to our heirs as they had to us, but it's usually not that way I think. I guess I won't be around to worry about it. Well done gal.
Have a blessed evening.
Tom

I used to hold onto things but when I realized how much it was stressing me out to see it and know I don't need it, I started donating and removing it. Thank you for this. Gretchen

I think we're going through a similar thing, our children have a lot of cleaning out to do when Elaine and I are gone, there really is some junk around. I wonder about people like Tomlin, it seems predators have absolutely no conscience at all, beautifully written, blessings Roy

Thank you, Roy. I have it down to a science. I clean one drawer or one shelf or cabinet at a time. It gets easier to part with some things. Thank you for this. Gretchen

I like this side of Miranda. She has a lot of different moods, as we all do, and this makes her three dimensional. Good job of writing. I enjoyed reading this story.

Life never seems to be easy--for anyone. Even those who seem to float right on through everything, behind the shadows, they're having the same struggles as everyone else. LOL. I bet you wonder sometimes about my long rambling reviews. Nope, I'm not nuts, or totally, this damn thing just always says: 150 characters. Thanks for sharing.
