Although I don't think family traditions will be necessarily forgotten I do understand where you are coming from. The sad sentiments of yesterday go away and are replaced by new memories of today. My favorite line is, But the love that was created within a family will be cherished in hearts for an eternity. That says it all as far as love is everlasting.

sad commentary on life and death and memories of those who came before us. I like the image chosen and the idea that we all eventually die and fade away into memories among those left behind.

It is so crazy the older we get the more we realize how time is short and when others have gone before us, we end up having to go through their stuff to figure out what to do with it. The value that it might've had for the person that once enjoyed those items, may not be the same as those who are still waiting their turn for eternity.
Thank you for writing something that made me sit back and ponder. Happy Monday!

Very nice poem, Beejay. I am old enough to appreciate what lies behind this poem. The two lines that you finish up with are great. Best of luck in the contest.

This is so true.
I have a drawer, in it are photo albums from my dad, he passed over 20 years ago.
Now and then I might pull it out and look through it.
But, I always know it is there. it holds memories, but the ones in my heart and head are brighter and less tarnished with age.

The author's words are so true, descriptive and creative. I pondered on
these words and agree with this author. The last line says it all to me!
Remember the memories of my own family will go on - thank you
for these beautiful words. The poem flows and connects well. The artwork is awesome and compliments these words. Great Poem!

...or sold off to some antique dealer somewhere!
In my younger days I was an antique dealer in France and it would always break my heart to see the mementos, old photos and cherished postcards etc. of grandparents, aunts and uncles just left behind without a qualm, for me to clear with the rest of the house.
So I understand and empathize with your poem more than you can imagine!
Beautifully written and yes, so sad. Thanks for sharing.

What you have written stands true and yet the collection you speak of will pass through until the people in the frame will bring no recollection, as for eternity it is a very long time without beginning and without end.

What a beautiful and poignant reflection on memory and love! The imagery of the photo frame and the passage of time evokes a sense of nostalgia and the inevitability of change. It captures how, despite the fading of physical reminders, the love and bonds within a family remain timeless. This piece resonates deeply with the idea that while objects may be forgotten, the emotions and connections we forge endure in our hearts.

Thanks for sharing Beejay. There is a very ripe honesty in this piece. That's life. It's the intangible things that come to make the most difference when all is said and done. Congratulations on your work!
