Oh my goodness! This is you in a nonet! Eccentric. Candid. Fanciful. Audacious. Your "scrawl" does seem to flow with creativity and fun. I'll never forget one of the first posts that I read of yours. Some man was digging for a treasure trove in his nose.
You are one of I kind. I love this kind of post. It's so unique.

LOL!! Ya think?! ;-) :-) It certainly sang from the pencil at the time.... and omg!! I remember that!! That part was based on a (unbelievably!!) true story... that guy was digging for gold! :-) ;-) Thanx so much for these lovely stars, my lady, you put a really big smile on my face... thank you!! ;) Enjoy the rest of the week with family!! ;) Yvette

Well written Yvette. As usual, I love the way you use language. "Eccentric ink with fanciful vibes..." Lovely. You, are an amazing writer. Wishing you all the best for the Nonet Poetry contest.

What a wonderful smile after such a crazy few days of retail in the US at Christmas Time (wink, wink)! Have hardly turned the computer on these past few days cuz I'm so tired (10-12 hour days!) ... and now these twinkling stars put the smile back on my face (readying for the closing shift this evening - lol!) Thank you, thank you so very much, sir -- those stars mean so very much! ;) Take care out there and have a wonderful remainder of your week! ;) Yvette

Yvette, you are an amazing writer, and I admire your work. Just one suggestion: Please don't call me 'sir'. It makes me feel older than I am (only 78 years). =)

BTW, don't overwork. The last thing I would like is for you to stop writing because you are too tired.=)

Hey, I thought that with so many people shopping online, there would not be the crazy rush in-store. Guess I was mistaken.

LOL!! I call all the gents 'sir' and the ladies, 'lady',... just a thing, I guess. Do the same thing at the department store... always makes folks smile. But I promise to refrain in our conversations! :-)
Not overworking -- am full time and there's always something to do around my lil' house here. Since I've been on my own about 3.5/4 years now, I've found there's always something around here that needs doing! :-) And these shorter winter days just seem to make one a little more tired than the warmer months, ya know? This Southern Gal certainly loves her summer heat... Lol! ;) ;)
Thank you for the wonderful comments about my writing - so appreciated!! I stepped away for a few years to find 'me' again and am enjoying the heck out of it -- Trying to make time for a bit more, but there's always so much 'reviewing'... I'm thinking on limiting the number of reviews per week per person that I do so that I have more time in my spare time for my pen... do you think that would be reasonable?
Oh, and you bet your happy a__ that it's crowded at the store... doesn't help that corporate's new philosophy is: "Let's see how FEW employee hours we can get away with and still keep the customers coming in..." Oy.
Thanx again for everything and take care of you out there... BTW, where is there? :-) :-) Yvette

Yvette, you are such an epitome of a southern belle---sir and lady! Do you also say you all? =)

BTW, weren't you working for NASA at one time? After that you taught science in High school-- right? And now, you work in a department store. Your life seems as checkered as mine.

I came here when I was 19. Went back to India and Bahrain (where I was born) for about 8 years and returned back to the U.S. in 1998. I have lived in Pittsburgh (for the last 25+ years) where I taught part time at the University of Pittsburgh while completing my PhD in Psychometrics.

As always, looking forward to reading your work. My short term memory is shot and I am finding it much longer to write, but I am getting there both with my writings and my paintings.

Yvette, keep warm. It's bloody cold here. You live in Alabama don't you?
reply by the author on 07-Dec-2024
Nope... say "y'all"! :-) Yes, was a private contractor for NASA (SpaceShuttle/Station docking issues and the Orbital Maneuvering Vehicle) then moved on to the DoD. Took a 'break' after the birth of my second son and raised all three of my boys during which time I started teaching math/physics in High School where they were enrolled... And after more than a bit of a bump in the marriage road, I have finally retired from teaching after paying off my lil' place here in rural Alabama and work full time at the small department store here mostly because I'm pretty sure I would go out of my mind if I completely retired - lol!! :-)
And Pittsburgh is entirely too cold!! We've had the past three days with highs in the forties and I've had it!! :-) :-) Bring back my Southern heat, please! :-)
So glad to you enjoy my writing... Got really worried about my memory that first year or two on my own (Post-It notes are the world's most unsung prestigious invention!!), but it does seem to slowly be returning as I find my new self (don't know if that makes any sense at all, but it's true!)
Keep warm up there, my friend -- always so good to hear from you! ;) Yvette

I loved all those rarely used words and the alliteration in your poem Yvette. As I was reading I felt you had fun writing this one. I certainly enjoyed it, cheers

This may be the best nonet I've ever seen. You use beautiful language, the poem flows naturally most of the time, and it even rhymes. This is a challenging form, and you conquered it while making it look easy!

Well, you've certainly created a great canvas upon which writers can design dreams that may restore faith - or break the mold. It's an opportunity to be as eccentric or audacious as you like...go for it.

What a beautifully written and formed nonet, yes, writing is a lot of these things, yet we do I think write about much that many can relate to, very well presented, best wishes for your contest****kahpot

I think you have exquisite eye for artwork. You have chosen just the right art piece for Bard's portraiture. I enjoy what you wrote about a particular work by Bard. I would like to know more about this Bard's work that inspired your poem here. You don't have to define words for people. It's easy to find out from the internet. I know you were a teacher and can't help it.

Well done.

Actually, the last few posts have received reviews from a few folks 'commenting' on my use of 'big words' that they didn't know.... so, I put it there this time. :-) Thanx so much for the review, Lisa - always good to hear from you here! Hope you and yours had a Happy Thanxgiving! ;) Yvette

What about "scrawl", Yvette? :) I don't see no unwritten mess in this here poem. Teacher, thank you for the explanation of the words you use. :) Sometimes, when reading you I have to consult my dictionary. :) If you have a way with words... do not be ashamed...flaunt it!
