We have our own bike clubs over here but not many reach the size of massed riders that can gather up in the States.
I used to ride a bike, never in a club but just because it was easier and cheaper than a car.
Had an accident once when my eldest was about 3. Some idiot turned into me, no major injuries bar a buggered wrist for a while.
My then-wife came to the hospital, with my at the time 2 sons.
Stuart turned to me and said to me
'Please don't ride a bike again Daddy, I don't want you to die.'
I haven't ridden since.
Anyway. Great poem and apologies for the reminiscence waffle.

Thank you for the review. We have a saying in the states. It's not if you go down it's when you go down. My youngest son (26) crashed his sport motorcycle a year ago and he broke his pelvis in 3 places and tail bone. He destroyed the bike. They are dangerous for sure.
Glad you listened to your son. He needs his dad.

He is a grown man now and he and his wife are going to present me with grandchild number 4 around easter next year.
He doesn't ride and never has.

TIm,
Congrats on grand baby #4 and he probably had no desire too. Kids are smart they remember things.

Sanku,
The young riders here on their sport bikes do stupid things like that over here too. Thank you for the kind review.

This is an accurate description and narrative about riders enjoying their lives and freedom. At the special school where my wife taught for many years the local Harley Club would pick a Saturday in December and come by to have a Christmas party for the kids. You could hear them coming for miles.

Robert,
Thank you for the kind review. I have been on many charity rides and they are exciting to see all the bikers come together for a good cause. He in the Texas area it's normally the Harley Davidson stores that the event takes place on.

That is pretty cool you used to ride. My Mom had a relationship for 8 years with guy who used ride a motorbike we couldn't believe she used to trek around on the back happy out. This poem captures the adventure. To be honest I'm scared of them because of knowing a couple of people who have had serious injuries from accidents. But of course that doesn't take away from the amazing adventures folk have riding around on those things! Well done.
Best Wishes

Nicki,
Thank you for the kind review. Motorcycles are dangerous, but fun to ride at the same time.

I love the freedom that your poem portrays. The entire length of it made me feel like I was part of the group "gliding" down the same narrow country roads that you describe. Ride safe!

I enjoyed the imagery provided in your poem and can appreciate the camaraderie described. My sister and her new husband went on their honeymoon riding off on a motorcycle. She claimed it was a great adventure.

My dad had a Harley hog, 1958 that had the saddle bags on it. This is a great poem about motorcyclists. Sometimes you rhyme and sometimes not so I got a little confused as to whether this was a rhyming poem or free form poem. Either way it's very nice.

Katiemae,
It was actually a free form. My favorite, it doesn't take what little brain power I have left.
Thank you for the kind review

I could feel the wind in my face and leaning into the curves on the roads. I rode a bike for a couple of years until a car took me out. I lost my leg. I still love to see the bikes but they are dangerous these days with all the cars on the road that don't give damn. We have at least a rider a day killed now. Well written and good memories. K xx

Thank you for the kind review. It's a shame how inconsiderate motorist are. My husband and I have had a few close calls, but by the grace of God we stayed upright.

I can relate to your poem, I use to ride a Harley in my younger days and rode with some good clubs and a few not so good, but lived to see the day. Good write.
