The candle flame is an interesting metaphor for the inspiration that comes to the mind of the writer. Ultimately, the ideas and the gift of writing are from God. I'm glad you acknowledge that in your final stanza. Nicely written poem. Blessings. Carol

This poem has a subdued, almost solemn voice to it, a measured gait, and images of candlelight and trees falling in the forest that seem to speak of the writer persevering and lending his illumination to the world, even as the world passes by in time. It's a complicated vision here, but it works. estory

-Nice artwork and presentation, Roy.
-Your notes are appreciated.
-It is a nice feeling to be inspired
by someone else's work and share it.
-You did a good job with your poem.
-Very good opening verses.
-I like the comparison of "endless scenes"
to "roses row on row."
-A very good verse about your writing,
and a very good closing verse.
-Very well done.

Excellent, and yes, Shelly Kaye is a very memorable writer, our inspiration for words does come from many moments in day-to-day life, and the poems and stories we read on this site certainly inspires me and my muse, very well written****kahpot

Yes, writing better can be learned, yet works stand out when inspired. I enjoyed this, dear friend, Roy, much like other works that bear your signature. Have a wonderful Sunday.

I read your poem, and then your authors notes and went straight over to read the poem that inspired yours. It was lovely, as is yours. Poetry is a personal thing, but sometimes it needs to be written for the world to read, as much of your do. My poems are mainly for children, but some I've posted have come from my heart. Many of those are written for me alone, I have not been able to share them as yet.
You begin your poem well. It is a flicker of light that can bring words from our deepest memories, to twirl and bring to life again. Many, very happy ones, some very sad. But the memory can be looked at again, and perhaps the sadness can be removed after such a time lapse, and replaced with a smile.
I'm glad you were inspired by Shelley's poem, yours is truly lovely. Well done, my friend. Love and hugs, Sandra xx

An interesting thought that the light from a candle sparks the writer's mind which then causes the words to be written, either on a computer or the old way with ink flowing from a pen. God does bless our efforts and encourages us to develop the gifts He has given us.

I love the imagery of a thought lighting a candle flame. It is great that you give credit to Shelley for providing the spark for your poem.
You have written poems for many years and they come reliably, like chestnuts dropping from trees. IT is divine inspiration that had made it possible for you to write all those wonderful poems. Excellent rhyme, and the presentation is lovely. judi
