Hi Monica, I'm back on FS.
Love this short poem about
pen pals. I think it's a form of
keeping in touch with friends
that is underappreciated. It
seems sending thank you
cards is not as common anymore either. Blessings ~

I remember a time before mobile phones and computers when sending letters was the thing to do. I am 42 and it is hard to believe that there was a time in my life when I used to do this. I had forgotten the old practices. I remember the excitement you would feel when putting the stamp on that letter and popping it in the post box. Then you would wait with anticipation. The joy in receiving a letter in the post is something I had completely forgotten about. I have bundles of letters from when I was a teenager and they are quite amusing to read back over now. We led such simple lives and in many ways it was less stressful and more enjoyable. We were more connected to each other. I am so glad you have found an outlet for a practice that I assumed was extinct. That is amazing. What a lovely 1000 milestone post. And what a beautiful thing to do during COVID to teach your grandkids how to write a letter.

Congratulations on your milestone post number 1000. Quite an accomplishment! It's nice to know that letter writing hasn't disappeared completely. I had pen pals in my youth for years and it was always such a joy to get a letter rom them in my mail box. Thanks for sharing

Hi Anonymous
So cute but truly a great message that brings people together in an unintrusive and safer way. With communications and information technology so alive and well in our world today, it is amazing how many still feel isolated and alone. Social media has proven to be more a weapon to bully or intimidate young and old alike than what it set out to be - to connect people in a beneficial way.
Letters are a safer method to communicate and much more personal. I love getting handwritten letters but that is very rare. A pen pal program sounds like fun but still be careful because crooks unfortunately inhabit this realm too.
Stay safe
