I suspect he will, indeed, be there tomorrow!
her heel caught in a crack, snapping off with a sharp. - Interesting. It works, but 'sharp', as you wrote it should be an adjective and is missing its noun. As I said, though, it works.
Best wishes.

OK, Carol,
Interesting start :-)
But why did you start Chapter One at the top with a sub-heading; summary of Chapter 1?
I kept looking for Chapter 1 LOL
Anyway, I don't do romance but i will give this a good old try as its you and i want to see what's going to happen

Posting this story has been a major headache.... but I said I would and I have. It's only going to be a short one... to help fill in for the month of December and then I'm back to writing what I love. I don't normally write romance either. Though I love to be romanced, it's not in me to write it.
Thanks for sticking with me!

And thereby hangs a tale for the reader to mull over - who knows there might be a sequel out there in the ether? Who amongst us hasn't had a moment like this and probably at Christmas time when fun and laughter are in the air?

I think it would be advisable to wear shoes. I used to wear very high stiletto heels, now flats and trainers! But, it seems to have brought something of a possible romance for this young lady! Well done, my friend, love it. :)) Sandra xx

I think this is the story I will use to finish out October... a little drama, a little sadness and a little love. thanks for reading this one, Sandra.

A very heart-warming genuine piece of work.
This short story manages to not only entertain the reader, but builds some anticipation.
Good job!

A lot of the readers want me to expand on it and I might in order to cover October...giving me a break from the big novels because the next in the series is going to be a whopper.

This is just delightful, Carol! To capture sudden attraction in so few words is not easy...
I love it when the frisson of romance sparks off the page without a hint of anything off-color.
I find myself, like most of your admirers, hoping you will carry this one further...
Shoes or no shoes this feels like destiny!
Please consider expanding!

This one will be what I use between the end of the novel and the Nov 1 story, I think. It won't be full blown novel but I think I can stretch it to something interesting and fun. I didn't expect you to come back today and read more. Don't be pushing yourself.

This is a lovely little romance story, Carol with an amusing touch to it. I do believe fate steps in at times for us, as it did with this couple, wet feet and all. Loved it, Carol.

Very cute story, Carol. I love the fun of it. Running through the rain barefooted, but then gets to meet someone who she falls for. Great timing!! Hope she gets another chance with him the next day!! You need a follow up story.
Hugs,
Rhonda

Funny you should say that Rhonda. Every one has been asking for the story to continue. I needed something to fill in during the month of October and I think this story might be the one. thank you so much for the review and the thoughts.

It was cute!!

This is a cute story in a realistic setting that can happen in any city. I enjoyed the build up of losing her heel which led to the dialogue between her and the man who helped her. You left the ending so this romance story could continue.

And it might....I can't believe how many readers have wanted just that... What started out as an amusing short sounds like it might get a life of its own. Thanks so much!

What a nice thing to say, Madeleine. I appreciate you stopping by to read my short post... and I might continue it after I finish the last chapters in my novel. Your kindness and the review are greatly appreciated.
