Thank you for sharing this rhyming poem with us. I can't say I enjoyed reading because of the subject matter. Bullying is a huge problem and has been a problem for years. Good luck with the contest.

Thank you for this great review.

Bullying makes me sick. I can never understand why someone who "thinks" he's better than someone else would even care about that person...leave them be and get on with your life while they get on with theirs. Sad thing is, the one doing the bullying will never know what he might have missed.

First, I would like to say that I am very sorry that you were bullied as a child. There is nothing quite as bad as being the outcast in a group of girls because girls can be very cruel. But I am glad for one thing and that is that it has, you to be able to write some beautiful poetry and I appreciate it so much. Patricia.

I've told this story before. I was bullied, also. One day in high school, they were ranking on as female student. I fought the aggressor and got expelled. But I took that girl to the prom. If we had been classmates, I would have sought your company.

Iam so sorry, my friend. I had it for an entire year from a boy I'd rejected romantically. I was already horribly thin and my self-esteem plumented with my weight. I finally had it out with him at a football game in front of everyone. He never bullied me after that. He died two years later. A car hit him and he was very close to my house. I felt he was coming to apologize to me. Anyway, I forgave him and when I did it really set me free.
Wishing for a six to give your beautiful poem. My very best in the contest too.

I'm sorry you had to go through that as well. You are a very sensitive and thoughtful person, thank you for your kind words. :)

This poem, Why Me?, presented with seven ABCB-rhymed quatrains, muses on the bullying which most people have experienced at some level. Since we all are embarrassed by it, we rarely report it as unusual.

Wordsworth said poetry is emotion recollected in tranquility. There's plenty of emotion here, so I hope you have also reached a place of tranquility. As a teacher for most of my life I have witnessed bullying in all of its forms from the subtlety of sly comments to the uglier physical stuff. None of it is acceptable and all of it is harmful as your recollections demonstrate.
You do a good job of describing both the bullying itself and the aftermath. Good luck in the contest.

Thank you for this great review. I have to say that l admire teachers so much, l had a math teacher that really turned my life around, after moving from Chicago to Minnesota. He was so caring and patient with me, taking the time to really teach me math and gave me confidence in myself. I'll bet you did the same for your students Thanks again.

Being bullied at school leaves a stain on our hearts and reminds us how cruel others can be. I have been bullied a few times in life and it is not a nice feeling but I always come back to the same conclusion, a bully is a jealous person who envies us and we should dismiss their behaviour as unacceptable and rise above them. A well rhymed and metered poem and I wish you luck with the contest, love Dolly x
