Nightingales wouldn't be very cuddly. That I'm sure of. Thank you for sharing this beautiful presentation and poem with us. This poem causes the reader to wonder if that side of the is empty and cold other nights or only tonight. LOL Thank you for sharing your wonderful talent with us.

LoL. Sometimes it's good to have the bed to yourself ... hehe

I love your rather surreal imagination, Gypsy! This tells us so much so succinctly about loss but also about our connection and rapport with nature. Are we ever truly alone? Take care Debbie

I think God is by our side and the people who have passed souls.

There have been dark times in my life when it was just me and God. I survived dangerous situations and I wondered why until it was up to me to care for my grandson since he was a baby. Now I have purpose.

    Thank you very much, Debbie

Interestingly enough, the nightingale is given to being the bird that sings songs of love. It is quite fitting that it be her night's companion. Beautiful and alluring poem, that is well written.

Through this simple poem (and I mean no disrespect) you have captured the emptiness of the night. Used to having their lover beside them, the bed is cold and the emptiness and loneliness is palpable. Gretchen

"emptiness of the night" so well put. You would make a great haiku poet. Haiku is supposed to be simple but deep.

Thank you very much for your excellent review and kind words.

That's so sad. I think when we lose a loved one whether to death or divorce, it's that empty side of the bed that is most noticed. On the other hand, the beloved can make us cold by stealing all the blankets!
