Hi Jer. Thanks so much my friend. The Twisted Loop was HARD and I hope to avoid that form for a long time.... I have just come in from the heavy rains. I've been out in them quite a bit this morning. Ugh! But, I do love a rainy afternoon and it looks I'm going to have one. We're having steak and baked potatoes for dinner, so that is something to look forward to. I appreciate the remuneration of the awards... it just boils down to ... I like to write poetry ;). Hugs, sweet Jer!

Hi Melissa
This poem flows well and give a strong image of falling asleep in a safe comfortable bed on a cool rainy night. It shows how rain can be a calming lullaby.
Congrats on placing second in the contest.
Keep writing and stay healthy
Have a great day

Hi Melissa,
It's not easy to write a loop poem that doesn't seem forced. But your poem was a joy to read.
I think I could sleep soundly in that bed. But I'd wait for the fire to die down first. Wonderful autumn picture.
"enveloped in my cozy world
world blanketed in eider down
down drowsy trails of slumber's mist
mist muffles all the natural sounds" ... (I like the alliteration you've created with,
"down/down drowsy"
and
"mist/mist muffles"
Also, from
"tunes that weave a web of sleep
sleep snares me as it gently croons"
"sleep/ sleep snares"
Nicely penned! Good Luck in the contest!
Hugs,
Kimbob

Hello KB. Thank you so much!! I was in an autumn mood when I wrote it. There was a writer (Dean Kuch) ~ do you remember him? Well, he gave me a tip to turn off the lights and write by candlelight. That is what I did when I wrote Autumn Slumber. It really helps with the mood. So appreciate you KB! Hugs!

I do remember Dean very well, Melissa. He wrote some pretty spooky poems! A wonderful poet, especially around Halloween!
I like the idea of writing by candlelight. Perhaps I'll try it. Maybe that's what Edgar Allan Poe did, too, eh? I wouldn't be surprised.

Good job with this one, Melissa. That bed looks comfortable. I have never tried a Loop Poem. I think it would be quite a challenge. You should do well in the contest.

Hello Paul. Thanks for your lovely comments. The loop can be a challenge, but a fun one. It's similar to solving a word puzzle. Hugs!

The sleepy mood before the silent winter is evident in this post Melissa and we see signs of autumn as it prepares us for the dormant season. Your loop made this season bearable, love Dolly x x x

Awesome Poem! Anytime one can express oneself with a poem about sleep - it has got to be good. I enjoyed reading this so much that I slept in today lol! Keep up the good work!

Ordinarily, I absolutely detest loop poems. They seem so contrived and annoying! But of course the exception would be the one penned by my exceptional poet-laureate friend, Melissa. This one is as beautiful to read as it is to listen to. REALLY fine job, Miss Talent! I enjoyed it from start to finish. xoxox
