When they are very young that beginning of the school year is very hard, but in today's world rarely is there a mom at home. Most kids leave and come home to an empty house or day care. I enjoyed reading this contest entry and want to wish you luck with the contest.

School was a God send for me and I prayed it would last all year and then there are the latch key kids who go home to any empty home to fend on their own (whether because the parents must work or worse yet no one cares. There's no perfect solution for any of it. but I always pray...some one will care.

For the child who is getting the most from attending school, the hours in class are not enough. That child is gaining the benefit of expanding his world through the accumulation of useful facts and figures. That child will one day participate in running the world.
