Richard,

This is a great story. Yes, our ego can get in the way of our common sense sometimes. We think we are super human until we're not.

Congrats on winning first place with this story.

Cecilia

I don't know. Do men ever learn from their stupid mistakes?

Richard,

Welcome to Fanstory. Congrats on winning the Write A Modern Fable Contest. Your story presents a powerful lesson to all of us who allow their ego to override common sense.

All the best,

Eugene

Thank you! It is good to be back to Fanstory. I had other commitments, so I took some time off from writing.

Common sense is rather helpful. Refusing to remember our age, and aging body parts also impedes us at times. This was well written police procedural. I saw th whole things as i read. Well done. Karen

Thank you, Karen. It was quite a night. It changed my life. The one bad thing about youth. You don't think!!!

I"m not one for cold or climbing so I'd have called the fire department right away. Well told story. Good entry for the contest. I see nothing to correct. Good luck!

Yowie! I'm glad you didn't break your back! I'm glad you caught the robbers. For their sake and the owners. I didn't see any typos. I know some sentences began with a conjunction (ex. "And"), but I see that as a style point.

I used to do a lot of things that I wouldn't even attempt today. These bones are too old. What a wonderfully written story. Good luck in the contest! Have a great day, and God bless.

I am in the same category as you. Age now rules my decisions. Thank you so much for the kind words. They are appreciated.

It could have been far worse! you've painted the picture for the reader and then showed the consequences if one doesn't think properly. Your moral is perfect!

    Carol,
Thank for the review I appreciate it and your generous comments. One good thing about age. We think more we do something. With my job I always thought if I can get by those first two years without getting hurt or worse. The next twenty three would be a breeze.
