This is a very good question to pose. It could even make a powerful debate.: "Do all countries feel this grim? Beleaguered spirits jostled?" I especially like the last stanza.

Thanks very much, Liz. I am so anti-political, but this assignment from the weekly Japanese Poetry Club made me stretch myself by examining how I feel. Thanks for your affirmation that it turned out well. I was SOOO out of my element with this one!! xoxox
-
Sounds like you were able to balance it out.

I think you're giving me more credit than I deserve!! xoxo

Credit where credit is due

I am also very antipolitical anti-religious anti-anti.

Ah! No wonder we like each other! xo

Great work! The artwork itself seems to have multiple meanings. Beautiful interpretation of the Kanshi form and great comments about it in your notes. I like your use of rhyme. Your sentiments echo mine. I'm afraid America's light has dimmed. I believe it's a cultural decline. I've recently seen articles by people who want to rewrite the Constitution. It's happened to great countries in the past. As was said in the Pogo comic strip, we have met the enemy and it is us. I hope the anger will not get completely out of control. I haven't read any of the Kanshi, but I would imagine they deal with similar issues. Sorry to be late with this, but I am so behind in getting to my PM. judi

My goodness; you NEVER have to apologize for being "late" in reviewing me. I am always appreciate whenever a review arrives. I love to read whatever you write because it's always so well-thought-out and expressed. You never gloss over in your reviews. They're deep and meaningful. Thank you for this one. xoxox

This kanshi poem, Maintaining Equilibrium, has the proper formatting and presents this question of stress on the fabric of society as it pushes through the present quarrels and aims for the bright future.

Hello Rachelle. You did a wonderful job penning this exceptional Kanshi. The flow of this verse was well crafted and the theme was poignant and well chosen. I really enjoyed reading it and stopped to pause and ponder your message. Thanks for sharing.

Hello Rachelle,
I think you captured perfectly the feelings that abound in this country and apparently around the world. I believe we are being set up for a major change in how the whole world is going to be governed and it's not going to be good. I love the picture you chose, and the words you wrote were spot on gal. Well done.
Have a blessed evening.

Thank you, Tom. The picture was supplied by the facilitator of this Japanese Poetry Club I've been doing this summer, Gypsy. She gives us a picture and teaches us a new Japanese poetry form every week. I've loved the way it's stretched me and made me smarter! It's been great, and she's taught me a lot. I appreciate your kind and encouraging words. xoxox

I don't know a lot about Japanese poetry but this seems to work in light of the way our country is behaving along political lines. There seems to be a lot of discontent and division and tempers flare even among family members. Nice done.

Yes, the acrimony is at a fever pitch. Battle lines are drawn as a result of it. I actually know people who've ended lifelong friendships because of their political affiliation!! It just boggles my mind.
Anyway, thank you for the astute review. I do appreciate it. xoxo

Thank you for sharing this club entry with us. Yes, it seems many countries are in as much of a turmoil as we, in the US are. I have many friends who live overseas for one reason or another. It's scary what's happening to the world.

It's simply awful. My mantra keeps being: There's no good candidate!! I honestly think that, for the first time since 1974 when I began voting, this year I will vote for every office except the Presidency. I do not want to be responsible for either of those inferior candidates being at the helm of our country. UGH.
-
I tend to agree with you, I can't seem to vote for either candidate.

This is a very soul stirring poem and I liked it very much. I also like how you provide descriptions below your poems about the style and tradition of the types of poems you write.
Thanks for a great poem and a great education!

I'm learning, myself. These poems are my weekly assignment from Gypsy in the club she facilitates called The Japanese Poetry Club.
