Rod,
You captured the essence of Robert Frost in this beautiful poem. Is it non-fiction? If so, I'm sorry for your loss.
I love the old style poets the most, though Fanstorians are very creative in all styles.
Have a wonderful week, Rod.
Best wishes,
Cindy

Thank you, Cindy, for all the kudos. No, the story I the poem is fictional. Rod
Comment from Dawn Munro
I dare say Robert Frost would be honored to be so emulated -- this is lovely! If it is biographical, please accept my most sincere condolences. The 'turn' is heartwrenching; the whole sonnet highly evocative.

An excellent presentation and poem, which I thoroughly enjoyed reading. You have indeed emulated his style, and I thought your rhythm and metre were perfect, and your theme a meaningful one.
Well done. Best wishes for the contest.

I can imagine myself walking in the writer's shoes, moving the land and nature's blessing, but too weak and weighed down with grief to truly enjoy. Nothing brings them back... All I have are the memories..and I fear someday those my fade as my brain forgets...I pray that does not happen.

a nice poem in the style of Frost who was a great poet - opposed in many ways to the modernist movement of poetry writing using traditional poetic techniques but making it real and reflecting modern life in that sense he was a modernist poet. His famous line about free verse was free verse is like playing tennis without a net

Thanks, Jake, for sharing my poem. I forgot Frost had said that about free verse.
Comment from HarryT
A fine job of grasping the nature writing of Robert Frost. I don't have the ability to judge the classical correctness of a sonnet because I can never in my head hear the beat. But, I love the imagery you have created.

A very well-made piece. I do enjoy a good sonnet. I think it will be better recognized by reader if you had a more define separation of the stanzas, but it's the author's choice. This is a strong, and emotional entry

Thank you, lancellot, for your kind praise of my sonnet. Advanced editor will not let me separate the stanzas.

Here's a trick, I use for all my poetry.
Copy and paste into word. Then, highlight the entire thing. Under the Styles option, choose No spacing.
Then add your single space between the stanzas.
Next, copy and paste this into the Basic editor on FanStory. Then Save it.
Finally, go back into the Editor, and switch it to Advanced. Then save.
You have your spacing. Then you can go back into the Advanced editor, and change the fonts or background and add pictures if you want.

Thank you very much for taking the time to give this advice. I shall heed it next time I post a poem.

Since Robert Frost is one of my favorite poets, too, I recognized the style as soon as I started reading and surmised it was an entry for the My Favorite Poet competition. I would say you have captured his calm, easy flow and descriptive style well. The artwork is perfect. Excellent work!
