What a lovely poem. I like poems that rhyme, and have meter. It's even better if they make me smile or laugh. And this one does. I love the chosen image for the poem, because it also evokes my own memories of running around in the farmland by the Greenbrier River. Your choice of words describes those valleys perfectly.

I'm a country gal so I could easily connect to your beautiful poem.
Often, I helped collect the hay at the end of summer. Then comes the potatoes I try my best not to puncture them. I have helped make homemade wine and huge batches of tomato sauce for the winter months.
I love Autumn, the harvest time, and the walks in search of fresh mushrooms ( for risotti) and chestnuts and walnuts.
Yes, we are blessed with beauty, those warm sunset-hued leaves
are mesmerizing.
I love the line where you refer to the sun as "shy".
