Great job with this, Tom. I think you've nailed it about politicians. It's easy to promise people things that are paid for with other people's money.
That is the theme of one of my favorite novels of all time, Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. In it, she shows what happens to the world when the producers of wealth go on strike and refuse to support the world, penalized, unappreciated, unloved, and misunderstood and longer. It's a form of bankruptcy, but it's a voluntary one. They just quit doing what they do best, and the world collapses. Only then do they come back.
It's a 1,000 page book, but your limerick says it succinctly. Well done!

Great job with this, Tom. I think you've nailed it about politicians. It's easy to promise people things that are paid for with other people's money.

We have a labour Government and the first thing they did was take away our fuel benefit. They are now threatening to target the pensioners with a lower tax allowance! I knew I would be worse off under a labour Government and yet people voted them in! Politicians are liars. I have an extreme dislike for the labour party as they seem to think that robbing the rich to feed the poor makes for an equal society? Wrong! Although your Limerick lacks the required metre, you made me smile with this one Tom, love Dolly x

Maybe the polls were rigged as D.T. insists, but the races are as the left has tied up the mainline news with liberal commentators, as well as the late-night talk shows. All are collaborators in indoctrinating the public. That's my point of view, and I'm sticking to it. No ill intent intended. Thanks K

Well, I don't live in your area of the world but I think the US is not going to fare well whichever way it goes. A country divided against itself will not stand (Bible) and I think that is being fulfilled unfortunately. Best wishes for your entry.

We Americans deserve what we get for representation. We don't know the issue and swallow smear campaigns rather than the ability of getting the job done. It's all about money spent on the derogatory ads. Biden and Trump, Kamala or JD, are they the best we can glean from the most successful country in the world?
