Sad commentary on our political system, but I do get your point. While I respect your humor, your rhythm needs a bit more work. I'd like to suggest:
There once was a war betwixt two
One candidate red, one was blue
But then some back-room boys
Thought they'd run a turquoise
For voters, they said, had no clue

ff there were a good third-party candidate, I'd certainly vote for him or her. I don't like any of the candidates, regardless of what their affiliation is. Great limerick and clever idea. Best of luck in the contest. Suggestion: make the words in your limerick stand out more by using a darker font. Needs more contrast. judi

Good morning, Jim. What a clever poem you've written.
The third- party card always plays spoiler to one party or another.
I like your rhymes, and excellent wording.
Great limerick, Jim.
Best wishes,
Cindy

Thank you. I have been having difficulty with limericks. Marilyn Hamilton schooled me in them.

You nailed it! Limericks are so much fun to write and to read. I'm pretty sure it's true that some voters in fact have no clue. Now what can I say for 22 more words? Hmmm...

Never a poet and not knowing the first thing about poetry, but I've always been a Limerick fan. Short, to the point, and almost always fun and entertaining. Thanks for sharing.

I can't imagine you having difficulty with any form, but Marilyn certainly writes a mess of Limericks. :-)
-
I still get messed up with the meter at times.

"lyin' with a lion" Is what Daniel did in the Bible--and nothing happened to him.
Nice flow and rhymes to your political limerick.
"For voters, they said, had no clue" Well, these back-room boys better not let the voters hear this. Otherwise, there'd be absolutely no chance for the turquoise.
Good luck in the contest.

Thank you for sharing this political contest entry with us. I am already fed up with politics. I so wish we had a candidate who I could fully support. I know who I am not going to support at all, but the other choice isn't great either.

A great limerick with a shrewd observation! Politicians are so often "shaped shifters". ...
The shed their true selves and promise anything at all to garner support.
It's maddening!
(Hey! No disqualify? What's up?)
(I was following your frustration and wondering why!)
Good luck with this one...
And btw?
Thanks for always taking the time to congratulate those in the winner's circle!
