Well Debi, you have said what I believe, but you said it in a rhyming way that I couldn't. It's very nice and I hope this helps it to rise from number 30 all the way to her one for the month of July. We'll see how that goes lol

Thanks so much, Dan, as it makes me feel good to know we were raised right, don't you think? After all, we are on the same page. I am glad that we think alike. Thanks for all the kind words, plus the honor of the six stars.
    Love, Debi

It appears to be the same all over the world, politics of bitterness. In my part of the world, where only common interests unit people, and divide friends and families, there is no ideology. Hence people shift from one political party to the other as power shifts. Every one wants to be part of the 'ruining' party, to subjugate the people and share the booty. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Well penned, dear Debi. Warmest regards, Eso.

Esostine, it is always so good to hear from you. And also your views too. It is too bad when people can't get along and respect the other's opinion even if they don't agree. It breaks my heart that christian values are torn apart here.

So I hope that people will start to see if isn't right to put others down. We all need to stick together in order to be united. I appreciate all your kind comments, my dear friend. I also am honored by your six stars. I thank you so very much. Love, Debi

As long as America is divided into two parties, America won't reach it's full potential. "A country divided will fall!" People don't need their own words. It's not only politics, it's religions. Most religions sprung off of Christianity that the Romans invented. So, everyone has a different religion, who is to say that one religion is better than another. It's how people are brainwashed into believing, just like the brainwashed in politics, taught by schools and colleges about which party to believe in. You make a lot of good points here! Oh, more than sticks are thrown , It's bullets!

BOO!

Hi Debi,
Did you listen to the Prime Minister of Israel speak today? A lot of politics there. But I did notice Joe, Kamala, and Donnie were absent. What's with that?
And now Kamala Harris has been handed the torch for the Democrats. It makes Trump's campaign a bit loose. Some juggling going on. Leading up to November's election, it's like a soap opera! I just hope, like you, that those involved can agree to disagree. We don't want another government takeover in Washington.
I'm Canadian, but I find it all very interesting. I watch CNN all the time to keep up with the events.
"Let's show respect for each one's view."
My favorite verse,
"And yes, it's true, I can't support
That it is alright to abort
It's my opinion that it's wrong
And my beliefs are very strong"

Now fill me in, is it the Democrats or the Republicans who want to legalize abortion? It seems opinions are a bit loose on the subject. I have to agree with you, though. I don't believe in the right to abort a baby. It isn't about a woman's right. It's about a baby's right. Abortion is murder!

Nicely penned!
Hugs,
Kimbob

There has been a law since 1973 that it was ok to do abortion. The democrats make all the laws that go against God's law. Republicans are mostly against it.

Last year it was overturned so now it is up to every state to decide if they want it legal. My MN loser of a governor invited everyone into our state to come have their abortion. Not only that he did the same for the sex change and announced that we don't even have to tell your parents. Plus he made it a law that we are the state that can do the abortions thru every trimester now. I am so appalled by our state that I am ready to move out and go to Texas. How is that for a rant. LOL...hahaha. Sorry, Kimbob, I wish I lived in Canada right now.

Thanks for the kind comments my friend. I wrote a poem a few months ago called, How would babies want you to vote? It didn't go over too well here. Even by some Christians. You know I was taught as a victim of incest and rape that every baby is special and there is always adoption.

So thanks for the kind comments, my friend. Lotsa love, Debi

Hi Kimbob, I just sent you an email about how babies want us to vote.
Thanks for having real morals and values. You're the best.

I am not so sure of that the two parties want the same thing! Though they both seem to be rather confused about their identities.

Let's show respect for other's view <= try: let's show respect for each one's view

But I promise I will not judge <= this has an extra syllable. Maybe try the word "pledge" instead of "promise"?

This is a timely write, and thanks for reminding us to treat one another with respect.

Thank you so much as I love when you give me feedback. However, the line that says, But I promise I will not judge has the correct 8 syllables in it.

But I do like your first one and will change that to make the correction.

As always, I thank you again, as you are so kind to take the time to help.

On line eight, it's not about the number of syllables but the beat placement with the natural accents of the words. The word "But" is on a downbeat. If you put it on the upbeat, it throws off the accent on the word "promise". The best way to see this is just to speak it out loud : )

Now I understand, so I will look at it. Thanks so much.

As soon as I looked at that line I saw it, so I moved it and I think it looks much better now.

I also corrected and used your suggestion for the each one's view. You're awesome!! Even if our political views are different! LOL...
reply by SimianSavant on 24-Jul-2024
LOL my political views are pretty off the wall and I can be downright mean. I do try hard to be fair though : )

Glad to hear the suggestions were helpful to you!

Either way, I take no offense of them. I am just as bad as you the other way. I can't even stand to hear his voice or see his face. But I don't judge anyone on their views.
It is not that I am a Trump lover because I am not. I am a republican and there is a difference,

I understand. Well Kamala is bad news for everyone, including her own party, so I am enjoying writing a LOT about her right now. Hahaha.

In that case we are on the same page with that one. I wrote her as the tin woman of Oz election where she kept rusting from laughing til she cries too much.. LOL

Bravo, Debi! To me, the solution is simple, as your poem states--my point of view or beliefs may not be yours, but we have the freedom to believe as we please. Just because our beliefs don't align is no reason to belittle, insult, denigrate, judge, or try to change things so everyone must follow the same beliefs. Live and let live is my motto. And your words have put it so well. Great job!

Gayle, I so appreciate your kind words and sharing the same feelings about the politics here getting a little too loud. I'd hate to see anyone lose a friendship with anyone over the election this year.

So thanks again, my dear friend for your very kind comments.

Debi,
Respecting others' opinions in life and on Fanstory is of paramount importance. Unlike politicians, we shouldn't cut each other down.
I hope our country can heal, without the partisan bickering that is so prominent in America today.
Nice sentiment, Debi.
Best wishes, Cindy

    Debi,
I loved your diplomatic stance on the election. We need to get together in this country, for the good of everyone. America was founded on differences; we used to celebrate them.
    Have a nice weekend, Debi.
    Best wishes,
    Cindy

I think it is sad that sometimes people aren't allowed to have their own political views and it can end friendships and relationships. Even if someone doesn't share the same political view as me, I would still respect them and their right to their own opinion. An excellent, important piece Debi. I really enjoyed it.

A fine poetic statement you have here!
Nice stanzas in 8 and your rhymes are strong.
Glad to hear you're not judgmental or a grudge holder. Someone once said about grudge holders
"Stop drinking the poison waiting for the other guy to die."
At any rate great poem

Very well written message that I hope and pray we can accomplish over the coming months.
We have friends and family members who are on opposite sides of this political spectrum with husband and me. Sadly, our answer is to avoid at all costs a conversation on these topics or maybe it is our way of agreeing to disagree.

Well done Debi.
Blessings
Janet
