I like the realistic ambiance sprinkled in with the mention of cooking fish in the household and thus smelling it up; and then choosing to buy and eat fish for dinner someplace else in order to avoid the problem. It is very easy for a lot of readers to relate to such things and it makes good writing.

This might be a little nit-picky, but you don't "throw" a wine glass into the sink, and most of us don't even place it there. They tend to be very fragile, so she might place it on the counter next to the sink.

I like the back story here, Jacob. We're getting to know more about Susannah, but also Stacey's relationship with her ex and his new partner.

Good chapter.

This flashing back to the past thing works well with you. I adds dimention to the story ane might help solve reason the murder took place. I look forward to the next episode.

The time you're spending with Joshua's father makes me feel there's something extra that that we're not privileged to yet. Hmmm. I'm wondering is there's a reason there for the murder.

As I sit down at the chair in front of the television and flick it on, (you can omit 'down', it's understood)

I don't think I'd like it if my son's girlfriend got on well with my ex's girlfriend. It's a bit ... I don't know how to describe it. But she did and that's that. Now, what was the last bit of news on the tele about? Now I wait. This has been a fun binge reading afternoon. Well done, Jacob. :) Sandra xx

I'm wondering now if Susannah was having an affair with Daniel? Similar age to Chloe and one has to wonder why she interrogated Stacey so much about him and their marriage. Plus this note that Daniel gave Stacey.. Might he have done the same with Susannah, raising her hopes about something the day she was killed? Or am I just going off on an utter tangent?:)) I like the way you flash back and fore, giving your reader time to pull the strands together (or misconstrue as in my case!)
Para starting: Well if you think about it....I'd delete the repetitive 'when you come to think about it.'
All nicely done, Jacob, and enjoyable. Thanks for sharing. Debbie
