Hi Katharine,
this was great gal. Well done. Those crows are incredibly smart, but they are obnoxious when they're calling. We used to have mockingbirds down in Charleston as I recall, but I don't remember much about them. Crows however seem to be all over the country. Thanks for sharing gal.
Have a blessed evening.

Thanks for reading, Tom.
I'm always amazed at all the different "songs" mockingbirds can sing. I wake up hearing them, especially in the early Spring, when I can open windows and actually get fresh air.
Was trying for a little humor when I wrote that, as the news is so depressing.
Hope all is well with you and fam and you're having a nice
weekend.

Good play on words. I especially like the ending.
""Any time, buddy. Just gimme a CAW." Ha ha ha ha" I often find this conversation without any indication of who is talking very tricky. It's difficult for people with ADD however with yours I just kept telling myself okay or I have a crow who's talking and then we have a Mockingbird that was how I was able to keep it straight.

Thanks, Liz! I'll have to see if can make it clearer (more clear?) who is talking. I thought I had them every other line, but will have to check.
Thanks again!

This is funny, and great work with fun dialogue. You captured the thinking of the crow. Excellent handling of the dialect, which adds to the humor. Yes, crows are supposed to be very smart. Supposedly, they can remember faces, so you don't want to cross them. The crow can't sing, but he does remember the notes. Very enjoyable. Love the ending. judi

This is a sweet little story. Crows are certainly not lovely in the sounds they make, but the mockingbird is such a great singer. What a gentleman the crow is to tell him the notes.

Thanks, Carol!
As I'm typing away at 10:30 PM, firecrackers are going off like crazy in my neighborhood. No point going to bed, now.
Happy 4th and thanks again!

It's a rainy fourth and I'm stuck inside. Your post gave me a heart chuckle and for that, I am truly grateful! The thought of birds that don't "sing" never occurred to me...but oh those crows...
Caw! Caw! Caw!
Happy Independence Day to you! I hope your weather is better than ours!

Well, we are very hot and humid - hard to breath for a COPD-er like me. But I wish it would rain here. We need it. Glad you got a chuckle of of this. Maybe while you're stuck inside you could check out birds that don't sing. You'd be surprised t how many don't :)
Thanks for reading, and happy Indepence Day to you, too!

Everyone can use a little chuckle now and then, even if it is between two birds--at least they aren't jailbirds. It was a cute story, and I enjoyed it.
HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY TO YOU!
