Ciao, Master Poet: Your compassionate endeavor brings one of my favorite slavery-time prayers to the summit of my contemplation. You have my imagery winding through a spiral staff back through time to this prayer by, Ms, Clara Ann Thompson in ( 1908 ).
"Storm-Beaten: "
"Weary, worn, and sorrow laden,
Jesus I have come to thee;
Shield me from the darts of Satan;
Set my fettered spirit free.
Hearken to my plea for guidance,
As I kneel before Thy throne.
Cheer me with Thy Holy Presence,
When I feel I'm all alone.
Struggling with the cares that press me.
Falling, when I fain would stand.
Thou alone, canst guide and keep me,
Take, oh take my trembling hand.
Pity Thou my many failings!
Strengthen Thou my falt'ring trust;
Keep me, 'mid the wind's loud wailing,
Thou the pitiful and just."

I gratefully thank you for sharing with me,
my friend. You are appreciated.
Take Care! Keep Safe! God bless you...your friend...rhonnie69.

Thank you Rhonnie !
A beautiful, heartfelt poem about finding strength in God when one feels weak and lost.
I google Clara s name ..
for some reason I thought slavery was abolished earlier .. instead only in 1865 .
Her young parents were freed slaves and Clara printed her first collections of poem using her family?s printing press in 1908.
I need to study more American History. ( biggrin)

Your poem delivers a powerful critique of historical injustices and exploitation committed by settlers and colonizers. The repetition of "Many are white man's evil deeds" does a good job of sharing the the magnitude and frequency of these actions. Of course, it wasn't just white men. Spain was terrible. But your poem does a good job in its critique.

First off thank you for reading and posting a review.
That said your last comment doesn?t make sense to an European.
Spanish like Italians and Portuguese belong to the white race.

This is a very true and heartfelt poem telling of the gross injustices of the past. My hope and prayers are that things are slowly changing. I want to see a world of true equality retaining the beaty and strengths of every ethnicity.

I embrace your hopes too even if we don't seem to learn from our mistakes. A good part of the world is at war once again.
I posted at the last minute so I was busy working out the artwork, I hope you like it.
