Lea,

This is an excellent entry in the 5 Line Poem contest and chapter in your book The Poets Menagerie.

On June 15th I reached out to you via email and sent you 5 of my poems. I hope you liked them.

All the best,

Eugene

Here is another of my poems for you to enjoy

Life is a journey...

Life is a journey...
of many unanswered questions,
along a road which never ends.
All of us are destined to follow its path,
knowing only the place that it all began.

Our journey begins at birth,
A still small voice inside
guiding us every hour of each day.
Our road map, helping us
to face life's many challenges
without which we cannot find our way.

Our quest leads us along an eternal path,
shared by every living soul,
all of us pressing on ever forward
toward a common yet unseen goal.

Life is a journey...
along a path of twists and turns,
filled with a mystical array
of never-ending events and emotions.
With each step teaching us
life lessons that we each need to learn.

And on this magical journey...
you'll meet all kinds of people,
Some will cause a smile,
a laugh, a tender moment
that your heart will never forget.
This I know...for in my journey,
I have met you.

Eugene I think I'm sleeping today I responded to your email called you Bernie so sorry about that! Your work is wonderful and beautiful as always is whenever I've read it. I was in a nasty car accident was unable to respond when you originally sent your message. Thank you again for your great review and for these wonderful poems I love them!

This is rather a mysterious poem. The raven or crow image seems to suggest something eerie, having to do with death. I was wondering if 'Two steps' means how far something enters the heart, or if it is referring to a country two-step dance. The last line suggests it is more of a dance that one can not really avoid.

Very good analogue! Smart lady! I meant it to be mysterious. For me it talks about having been along for some time getting a cold case around your heart then having someone come along and melted a little bit and then once it's good your heart starts hammering in your chest. Brisk staccato beat. Thank you for your review and your fine rating and for your time I hope your day is amazing!

Is it trepidation I sense, or melancholy?
This has a dark edge to it...the image adds to that. I can feel your pulse race...is it from fear or excitement?

Hmmmm.

Your five-line poem has an eerie feeling, and the imagery, particularly in the first three lines, is really well done. The artwork also suits perfectly to the poem. Good luck with the contest!

Five line compliant poem that left me to question what was meant by shadow man as to if refererencing a person or thing making the two steps in the beat you mentioned

Shadow man is actually a real person. His name is Shadow. I liked him quite a bit but unfortunately it did not work so I had an opportunity to let some of those feelings out. Thank you.
For your interest and for your fine rating and wonderful review.I very much appreciate it and hope your day is great!

I almost felt like this was about the summer heat. And, I like a poem that let's me decide what it's about. I could change my mind and decide it's about a man, who makes me both uncomfortable and makes me crave his presence. This was very cool. Gretchen

An excellent 5 line poem contest entry. I like the eerie feeling of this poem and the sense of dread it brings. The picture of that bird is the perfect creepy addition. Good luck.
