Good grief! What was I thinking? Of COURSE this would not be a smooth transition of spirits and a few mansion humans in search of a treasure...

This is Carol!

I had literary whiplash for a few seconds, but hey

You have the "goods" to bring in the Mafia--complete with hidden speak easy.

Oh boy.

And I thought the demons were gone?

Not so fast... Maybe?

Aargh!

I'm never getting to sleep tonight!

I guess being married to an Italian for 23 years left its mark on me in so many ways...(secret- his family had deep ties) I am glad you liked this story and I hope what is to come. I can't believe you are up and still reading. Must be a sleep in day tomorrow...

Reading ONE chapter of this is like eating ONE peanut.

It's impossible! (But your words have NO calories!)

    LOL...

You've added a new element of suspense. I especially enjoyed reading your description of the bar, the two guys at the bar, and Louie as he stopped near a mirror to check his hair. As always, your dialogue was realistic. Now, there will be competition for the treasure in the mansion. i hope the gangsters encounter ghosts. How funny would that be?

thank you...thankyou... thank you. Can't wait to see how you feel about the next two chapters I've posted. It was a crazy twist to bring in the gangsters but one I think can play out in so many ways. Glad you enjoyed.

What a well-constructed chapter, Carol, getting me right into your fabulous mafiosi story! The bar is beautifully described and you have great skill in bringing these characters to life through excellent and very credible dialogue. So the moral of the story is: always believe a woman's instincts. And never belittle Maria. Also watch that Marco who's obviously not quite as he seems! Nicely done and thank you for sharing! Debbie

That's a twist in the plot, now things are going to hot up. I don't think they believe there are ghosts in the mansion, this is going to be very interesting! I'm wondering if Maria's premonition regarding their safety? And not about the treasure. I like this twist, Carol, I like the way you have easily turned the story around. I think I have another chapter to read now. Loving this, my friend. :) Sandra xxxxx

I'm so glad that you loved the twist to the story. I couldn't have a bland ole treasure hung, now could I? Thank you as always.

Just what the ghosts and few humans need, a gang planning to rip them off. Are Madeline and Sandra the only living humans in the house? I thought there was a guy. This chapter is a great addition to the story although it is going to make the treasure hunt more difficult.

As always, I am running behind on my reviews. Trying to paint my house and still stay active on the site. I'm getting to old for this juggling. LOL A big thank you for your time and comments.

An unexpected thread here with the introduction of these new characters. This will cause a lot more complications for the residents of the mansion, both human and ghostly. No idea what will happen next.

William was once the kingpin of the gangs and even so sophisticated he served as a well-reknown Judge while doing it. Maybe he still has a few tricks up his sleeve. I guess we wait and see.

I wonder if you are mixing the living with the deceased, and I'm sure you have plans for this, it will be interesting to see how Frankie and Narco will become once they are dead, you've made a very interesting venture into the living and the dead, well.done, Carol, blessings Roy

Good morning, Roy. William was a kingpin in the gangster world at one time and now these newcomers think they can waltz in an claim the fortune. Should be interesting to see who can outsmart whom. And must must not forget that all the "bag guys" inside aren't gone either. A battle goes on.

Now we have some people that aren't ghosts about to get involved. I'm thinking the way rooms keep imploding, there want to a mansion for Sandra to inherit. I don't think she wanted it anyway.I'll be waiting to find out what happens at the mansion

Well, we know that greedy mobsters don't fare well in your novels so I'm guessing they will have a scary encounter with the ghosts of the mansion. But I was a bit confused about the bar. Was there an inside bar which was completely hidden and felt like a different time/place?

Yes, there was. Out front it was a regular bar, but behind closed doors was the speakeasy. When prohibition was around, the bar was hidden and the mobsters thought it was classy to carry on the trend. And yes....gangsters tend to pay the price in most of my novels. Thanks so much, Helen.
