Talking while sleeping is apparently fairly common. Fortunately sleep-walking isn't. During eye surgery I started to wake up and the doctor told me to go back to sleep and quit talking. Helping him solve the crime may set you up to be a mystery writer. That would be good.

I was just kidding about helping the author solve the crime, but I can't help but chuckle at your doctor saying that, though it was kind of rude. Also, I found out after my eye surgery, that the doctor (an older man) had CUT OFF MY EYELASHES!!!! I couldn't believe it. I had one "bald" eyelid.

Oh, I solve crimes in my dreams all the time! Some of my best book chapters came from my dreams spilling over into my creative thoughts.

Rue the day you're quiet, too quiet, and think of nothing to keep you awake! LOL!

Love this poem and my resemblance in each stanza! Did my husband call you?

Love & Blessings.

YAY, BRAVO!! This is wonderful and wouldn't you know that I used up every six star I had. Not that it would have been enough. So I give you a virtual ten on this one, as it is sooooooo good. I absolutely loved it.

Thank you. So since I rarely sleep too, are we talking about the guy, John Walsh, from the America's Most Wanted?? The one whose son was killed after he was kidnapped? Horrible.

Anyway, my favorite line was, "But in real life, I've found that the brain's slowin' down,"
And
Oh, horrors! Embarrassing! Heavenly days!

What in the world did I say?

It's best if I leave that alone, (don't'cha think?)

For what's said, is said, anyway

It was so darn cute. I loved it and so good to have you back. I missed you.
Love, Debi

oh. no, it's the author of the book, David Baldacci. At first, I thought what guy? Had to read my own poem again to see. Sigh.
Thanks for the virtual 10. I'm glad you liked it.
I almost dropped out of FS. Got discouraged, but decided what the heck, I'll just write for fun - at least until my membership is up in Nov.
    Thanks for your sweet comments!

Author,
Your poem made me smile. I can relate to it. Almost every night I wake myself up, uttering things that don't really make sense.
Once after a breast biopsy (benign), I woke up and the doctor and nurse looked down at me as they chuckled. I can only imagine what I said.
Your light piece is refreshing, humorous and well-written.
Good luck with all your writing,
Cindy (still night chatting in PA)

Love your insights in this. I think when we reach a certain age, we do worry about people thinking we're crazy. Stick with those books about good guys trying to solve crime. It's good to read about killers brought to justice. It makes you feel like order's being restored in the world. (Thank you, James Patterson.) I don't think I talk in my sleep. The only time I walked in my sleep was when I was staying at a Purdue University dorm on a 4-H trip. Great humor in this, and excellent rhyme. You've still got it, so don't quit on us. judi

thanks, Judi!!! I've decided to stay until my membership's up in Nov.
Then, who knows. But Thank you for the encouragement!
I've also decided, since I've reached a certain age, that's what I know, so, what the heck, I'll write about it. It's the only thing, these days, I find any humor in. (pardon the prep at end of sentence:)

Excellent poem. Perfectly describes the minds changes with age. Repeating stories time after time with no clue unless someone has pity and tells you. Trying to rest at night with a mind that refuses to shut off. The rest of my life may slow down and get sort of dull but my mental state is always moving and I can honestly say it's never boring. thanks for sharing.

Miss Marilyn, you look much too young and gorgeous to have this problem, but I really appreciate your perfect description of what it's like! I think I better change my picture, which was taken probably 12 or so years ago. Might as well age with my posts.
Thanks for reading my stuff and for you neat comments.

I am 68, dear woman lol No Spring chicken here but my sleep has been the same for over 30 years. I keep telling people it's a sign of genius. Not sure they are buying it though lol

genius, huh? Wish I'd thought of that.
I'm much older, so I don't think I'm gonna 'fes up.
I'll tell you one thing, though, you're a mighty young looking 68, and by the way, my lips are sealed :)

I thought this was a fun and funny poem about your talking in your sleep. I agree that odd habits have free reign when we are used to being alone. I loved your rhymes, as well. Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.

Yep, this one is absolutely true, and I wake myself up, talking,
    Good thing I'm alone.

Ha, ha, ha I laugh a lot reading that, and it makes me wonder since I live with my cats... would I? "t least I don't sleep walk, at night, (thank the Lord)

And wander in my neighborhood

Talking out loud, as I lurch down the street,

They'd put me away for good!"

Unless your cats would mind, probably not.
