Edgar Allan Poe is smiling as he read your poem. My youngest son, Steven is a fan of Poe and calls him the physco dude from Baltimore. Anyway, once again your God given talent shines through. Thank you for sharing it with us.

When I read this, I immediately thought of Edgar Alan Poe and how he grieved the loss of his young wife. I think she married very young and he was older. It affected him deeply.

Yes, he was deeply in love and very depressed after her death. Out of his depression came out a beautiful thing. I think that happens to many artists.
Thank you very much, big sister.

This was a very haunting poem. Whenever a young person dies for whatever reason we feel it is unjustified. Youth should be wasted on fun and learning, not death. Beautiful and I think Poe would approve. Thank you for sharing. Gretchen

This is a sad poem, but shows how death affects not just the deceased, but also the emptiness very often experienced by the loved ones left behind. It is a topic, I believe we never truly understand, but accept. The black and white motif, crow and pale human forms, are well fitted to the almost macabre atmosphere that surrounds the theme. It is a very effective poem.

RJ, Thank you very much for your exceptional six stars review and kind words. I try to cover a variety of poems to keep it interesting. I love Edgar Allan Poe poems. He suffered from depression, like me. But out of his depression something beautiful was created. Many artists are like that.

it's only 4 lines... did you forget a line? lol
other than that, still a great imagistic little verse with deep feelings flowing smoothly...
thank you for sharing

What a hauntingly beautiful presentation, perfectly complemented by your 5 line verse with that hint of mystery and Poe-style macabre. That transition from life to death in the eyes is very powerful indeed! Very well done, Gypsy. Debbie
