I thought your writing did a wonderful job of weaving together personal history and humor. I was captivated by Mary's larger than life personality and the crazy twists of fate that shape Sam's journey Loved the ending - that was so funny. Great job.

Thanks for writing this surprising story concerning Sam and his shocking news. You have been able to create a line of thought that follows consecutively and coherently through to the surprising end. Good job.
Below are two consecutive sentences that you might want to revisit. You might want to consider creating four or five sentences rather than two. (Then again, you might not want to revisit them. Lol.ð???)
"She had fled to the Bay Area during the Dust Bowl as part of the Okie invasion of the Bay Area during the late 30s when her family farm fell apart during the dust bowl conditions. Her family was part of the so-called lost tribe of the Cherokee nation, part African American, Cherokee, Creek, Chow tow, French, Dutch, Italian, and Seminole, often referred to as the black Irish due to their dark complexion, but passed as "white" in the racist code of the South."
