Another fine poem, Gypsy.... "With eyes full of longing" what a great phrase. Perfect. It's sad that our society revolves around youth and older people often turn invisible

Hi Gypsy, your poem is filled with truth and good sensory appeal.
Whether a person is in a hospital for a long time, they are in a nursing
facility, or they live alone, waiting and hoping for a visitor can be
lonely, and sometimes disappointing when no One shows.
Perfect photo choice. Well done. Xo. M

I've seen that happen. My own former daughter-in-law hasn't seen her father in two years. He was in a nursing home in the very town she lives in. Said it hurt to see him like that. I asked her to imagine how he feels. Must be terrible to feel discarded. Touching poem. Gretchen

For anyone who has been in a hospital or other institution that has visiting hours, this may be very relatable. To me, it certainly relates in a personal way.
I can just imagine how it must feel for an elderly person who has given much of her youthful and letter years to her children and society.
Sad really.

Your poem paints a picture of solitude and longing so well. The image of an elderly woman alone in a corner during visiting hours is so touching. The act of looking through the window with eyes full of longing is such a powerful image.

That's so awful when nursing homes have those visiting hours and some are never visited. Perhaps they don't have relatives living anymore or perhaps they are forgotten by them. You portrait of lonely longing is well done.
