Congratulations on your win :-) I have never seen this, but you have summed it up well in the form of a haiku, which works really well; especially with the personification of racism. Another film to add to my very lengthy 'to watch' list!

This is a excellent entry in the Haiku Movie Review contest. Your haiku captures the theme and underlying message of the movie as the two convicts fight their own racism. Well done.
All the best in the contest,
Eugene

Thank you for a wonderful review

This haiku movie review, The Defiant Ones, presented with a 5-7-5 formatting, notes the 1958 film of the prison break with two races chained together. Thought provoking at the time.

This was a blockbuster when it first came out. Sidney Poitier was outstanding. I have not seen it in years, but your poem makes me want to see it again. Good summary of the plot in only 17 syllables. Rod

Ciao , I remember watching this film years ago.
I have always been a fan of Sydney Poitier.
To Sir , with Love.
Lilies of the Field
Patch of Blue ( last time I posted this film in the movie contest).
For good part of the film they hate each other , I was upset they got caught.
I'm a big fan of B&W films.

Hi
This looks like a good entry for the contest. Good luck with that.!
I'm not familiar with the movie, but anything that eliminates racism is fine with me
My husband was a civil rights worker in 1965. He was threatened by the klan. After that, Jesse Jackson moved him to a new place every other night because the clan was gonna kill him if they found him at any place for two nights in a row
Can you tell me what that movie is about,? You can be brief
Great job. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for inquiring, I found this part description on-line, I really liked this movie as even back then it had a really important message
One night in the late 1950s in the Southern United States, a truck loaded with prisoners swerves to avoid another truck and crashes through a barrier. The rescuers clear up the debris and discover two prisoners have escaped, an African American man shackled to a Caucasian man because "the warden had a sense of humor." They are told not to look too hard as "they will probably kill each other in the first five miles." Nevertheless, a large posse and many bloodhounds are dispatched the next morning to find them. The two missing men are Noah Cullen and John "Joker" Jackson. Despite their mutual hatred, they are forced to cooperate, as they are chained together. At first, their co-operation is motivated by self-preservation, but gradually they begin to respect and like each other.
