*Losing Peppy, a blue parakeet, to Killer, the neighbor's cat, had been too traumatic before now. ~ Oh my gosh, this was a funny line,

Okay, on to the review. This chapter seems to serve as a respite from all the action of the earlier chapters. It's also a chance for us to learn some more about the mansion. So, it's purgatory. Interesting!

Now, can they get the book back? It seems pivotal to the story.

Great job,
Rhonda

Glad you enjoyed my attempt at a little humor... And yes, the mansion and the cemetery are the stopping off...second chance places for some and the last stop before damnsation for others. As far as the book goes...I can't reveal all my secrets.

And I don't want you to reveal them, either. That would take the fun away from your twists and turns. Like turning the roller coaster off in the middle of the ride.
    I'm having fun,

Missed this one and just found it. Clears up confusion in my mind. One thing, I wondered about the wording of the parakeet had been too traumatic before now? Seems clunky. Bit puzzled why this chapter just showed up in my messages. Esther

I have no idea how that happened. I noticed that a few people skipped chap 17 too...maybe because I wrote the other shorts?!? I have no idea....thanks for catching up with it.

Hi Carol, I'm frantically catching up with your story so forgive me if my review is not very thorough. Now I have to get to the next chapter. All best, Ulla xxx

Don't worry about chatting about the story unless you have time. I am thrilled that you are reading it and have time for that. Thanks so much.

Nice job! Madeline is as intent as ever (despite her protestations to the contrary) -- to acquire the treasure. I like the explanations of souls, limbo, those trying to make amends, and those doomed to damnation. It sparks extra chills and certainly motivates Sandra to find that darn key!

Thanks so much.... the sparks are about to fly again. I won't say much until after you read the next chapter but I think two headstrong women and maybe anyone else who wants to jump into the mix might have the pot of stew bubbling over. LOL

This is by far the best story you have written. I'm enjoying the story immensely and look forward to each and every chapter. Keep going, my friend. Nice work.

Your are great for my ego, April. It's been a difficult story to wrap my head around so it takes me longer to write, but I am glad that you are enjoying it. Have a great day!

Madeline seens to be bent on finding the treaure as payback, but this will not be in her best interests. An interesting concept of all their destinies being decided by one "person". I'm intrigued as to how this will all get sorted.

Good morning, Wendy... Thanks for reading and for the kind review. Yes, Madeline is going to find herself in over her head with Victoria and of course aren't all of our destinies in the hands of one. I hope Sandra is able to help the others by righting the wrongs in some small way, but I have a feeling Madeline and Victoria, and maybe others will get in her way.

So, Sandra's whole purpose is to find the treasure so it can be returned to its original owners. But wouldn't they all be dead by now? I am wondering what is going on here and you've captured my imagination.

Yes, the original owners would be dead, but their heirs might be struggling and would benefit. If not, just doing good with the treasure might open the door to redemption for some. Thanks so much for the review. Hope all is well.

Well, you're certainly in charge of your story. One person writing the ending for everyone in purgatory. A key in a jewelry box the deciding factor. LOL. Maybe Frankie will find the key first. :-) Thanks for sharing.

Ahh, Frank is probably drunk and sleeping it off under some nearby tree and enjoying life as he sees fit. I miss him though. As for the story, I don't think it will be an easy find for any of them.... The kettle needs to be stirred. Now there's something Frankie would enjoy...a nice Irish Stew. Have a great day!

I'm rooting for Sandra. Something tells me that if Madeline keeps focusing on getting the treasure to get back at Victoria, things will not go well for her. I'm sure Sandra will help uncover all the mystery and help the ghosts that are stuck in limbo.

I think you are right...Madeline, for whatever reason is headed for trouble and Victoria is more than willing to give it to her. Thanks so much Helen for reading and the review. I appreciate it so much.

A complex plot, which I suppose will come together at the end, I can see the clever weaving of it, there are so many ends that need to come together to bring it to a conclusion, well done, I hope it's ok, beautifully written, blessings Roy

Lots more to happen for sure. I never know where its going and I'm not sure I want to go there, but it just unfolds by itself. LOL Thanks again Roy for reading and reviewing.
