gansach,
Congrats on winning the What A Mess! Contest.
Your entry was brilliant. Your poem captured and conveyed the universality and challenges and the everyday complications of life dealing with messes as an integral part of Motherhood and the raising children.
All the best,
Eugene

Oh my gosh, the memories you have stirred with this delightful poem, and so well deserving of its win. I believe, I have experienced all these messes and then some. Congrats on a job well done!

This was an absolutely adorable poem. For a bit of time I was a single mom of 3, all separated by 15 months each, so I feel your pain. I was also in college and going through a divorce at the time. My only suggestion is that you change "my child at quiet play" to "my child quietly at play" to assist with the flow.

Haven't we all been there? And this lovely flowing verse describes it all so perfectly with a nice injection of humour and exhaustion:)) The image is a delight too. I can never get over how they get into this kind of mess and never look at all fazed or embarrassed by their new appearance! Well done and good luck! Debbie

An excellent entry for the What a Mess writing prompt. A typical day for the mother of a toddler. But what i have learned at my age is, take it all in while you have it because it will go by entirely too fast and later in life you would give anything to do it all over again. good luck in the contest, Nicely written.

This certainly brought a smile and some memories along with it. The poem had a lovely rhythm to it that suited the subject, and the rhyming was spot on.
Good luck!

This is a classic story of a single mother's life. It is real, difficult, but also funny and involves the love of her life. Quite relatable in the best of ways. O, such a cutie as well.
Well written and presented. Nothing beats reality.

Ah, I had not realized this was a What A Mess contest entry. Makes perfect sense.
Single mom there's and fathers are really the unsung heroes in society.
Good piece. Good luck in the competition!

Very well done - imaginative (or maybe not) and well written, with an excellent photo. Early mothering is exactly as you have described, and the first lesson in the book should read, "Quiet is not good!" Best wishes for the contest.

Thanks so much! The majority of these fun little episodes did happen in one lo-ooo-ong day! My daughter was having herself a time-LOL!

Your poem beautifully captures the everyday challenges and joys of being a single mom. The repetition of tasks, the unexpected messes, and the constant juggling of responsibilities are all depicted. But for me I loved the sense of humor and resilience shining through. What a heartwarming reminder of the joy found in the messiness of motherhood!
