I know there has to be suspense and mystery to keep readers interested in a story, but I hope nothing comes up to prevent Alan from going to Tommy's game. The dinner, kisses, and stroll along the river were nice, and everything seems to be progressing nicely. Even the newspaper article explained the whole truth. Now what? We'll see.

I'm not one of those authors who believes in non-stop action and problems. I like to break them up with a change-of-pace. The next few chapters, I think, you'll find enjoyable.

Well that news article really set things straight much more than today's confusing social media. It sounds like things should look up for Alan and his relationship with Ginnie. But it's been such a roller coaster ride that I can't help but wonder if Alan won't be able to keep his promise to be at the game. Maybe he should stop making promises. Ginnie's issues would be hard to overcome if another promise is broken.

A lot of readers have been concerned about that, but I feel they've been through enough, and I won't do that to them again. It will be smooth sailing for a while.

My goodness, Jim, that Alan is one forgiving soul! Not too many gents out there that would be willing to come to the rescue of a young girl who darn near ruined his life as well as give Ginnie the "time of day" after her rude behavior.
I can actually see all of this playing out - especially in the small towns where I once taught.
Here's hoping a positive resolution is coming soon, but I sense there is "more to the story."
Much enjoyed, Jim!
Thank you for sharing!

Thanks so much, diane. He's good people. The kind you don't see that often in fiction today. Hopefully he's a refreshing change from those we do see.

A tentative approach for both Alan and Ginnie on this date, both taking it a bit slow and cautious. In the paragraph about the restaurant - We both had a drink before dinner - four of the sentences start with We. It stood out for me.
Cheers,

Excellent chapter - and everything is proceeding very well. However i sense that the sory will not finish just yet, so I am anticipating some problem whereby he misses the game again. That could be disastrous. I'll wait and see!

Thanks very much, Wendy. Yes, still lots to go. We're about at the halfway point now. New direction coming soon.

This is another excellent chapter. You are moving the story along nicely. There is one sentence that doesn't flow well. "She said he was still saving to buy him."
Have a blessed day.

Thanks, Lee. I agree with you about the sentence and have since changed it. Thanks for that.

This is such a sweet chapter. It is so good to see Alan falling in love with someone who is falling in love with him. And the bonus child is really happy to have him in his life.

Thanks, Carol. I figured it's time for everyone to relax for a while and let this relationship grow before we tackle some more issues.

You certinly know how to set up a romantic evening for two! It looks as though everything is going well for Alan with the affirming newspaper report and closer realations with Ginnie. I'm wondering what the complication is going to be - or are we closing in on the end of the story?

Thanks, Tony. We're only about halfway through now, so, yes, there will be more complications to handle. We're going to relax for a little while, though, for this relationship to solidify.

What's not to like about the flow of this chapter. Everything seems to be coming up roses for Alan. Maybe too good. There is something hiding in that pen of yours.

Hello Jim,
I liked the way you had a newspaper article start the story off. I'm glad that Alan and Ginnie can have some semblance of a normal relationship too, after the way things went for awhile. I just hope Alan doesn't face some other unseen disaster to keep him from attending the ball game. He might lose all credibility in both Tommy and Ginnie's eyes. It would be hard to ever recover the relationship if that happened, and Ginnie is already leery of men due to her past relationship with them. Well done Jim.
Have a blessed day.

Thanks very much, Tom. You always seem to appreciate the little touches like the radio show and the newspaper article that I put in there for some variety, and I appreciate your mentioning them. We're going to let things settle down for a while and just have a little fun before getting to the next challenge.
