Cicada music gives me a feeling of comfort, like all is right with the world. I image if there was a disaster they one couldn't hear them. Not sure, I just think it would be all quiet and scary. I enjoyed your complete presentation.

the sound of cicadas are nice... except when one gets into your apartment and you can't find the dang thing LOL!

a very vivid and raw tanka with deep feelings and pieces of a broken heart between the lines

nice imagery and smooth flow

I like this. While I have heard of cicadas and their invading a town, I never knew why. Your "broken heart Ballards" puts their presence in entirely different light.
Very beautifully written and presented.

I never thought about why they are making that noise. It names sense. It sounds to me like hot summer evenings. I find it interesting that movies use it to convey the same thing. Your poem was beautiful and almost romantic. Gretchen

You pick the best pictures because these make cicadas look pretty! And I really liked :
"their broken heart ballads of mating longing".
But they are really LOUD! They're like chainsaws.

    Yes... haha... cicadas are really annoying but they have little hearts. LoL

I enjoyed this very much. When I lived in Las Cruces, New Mexico, cicadas arrived two different times while living there, where they showed up each night and made such a racket. Patricia .
