A good chapter, Jim. Peach pie and vanilla ice cream around 11am? Right up my alley!!!

I think Alan dug his hole a little deeper. For all the good he's doing with Tommy, the junior college lie will come back to haunt him.

Nicely done..

This is another excellent chapter. I continue to be impressed by your knowledge about things mechanical and electrical. To me, it is all magical. I do not see any room for improvement. Have a blessed day.

Thanks, Lee, but don't let that fool you. I couldn't have written about it without the internet. My knowledge of electricity isn't very broad.

A very well-crafted chapter, Jim, that clearly demonstrates Alan's patience as a teacher = so very thorough and sincere.
Loved the fact that Ida brought the "boys" peach pie = realistic, and something my mother or I would have done.
"Capacitor" = I kept thinking of "Back to the Future" and the "flux capacitor!" Too funny!

Thank you for sharing!

Thanks, Diane. Ah, yes. The flux capacitor! I'd forgotten about that. Perfect example of what a capacitor does.

Miss Ida's peach pie with icecream sounded yummy. I enjoyed this chapter Jim.
For me, it held the right amount of technical talk as Alan takes Tommy hrough each repair. Well written chapter,
cheers.

Thanks so much, Valda. I was afraid there was too much technical detail along with the toaster repair chapter, but folks have seemed to enjoy it. Glad it wasn't too much. There won't be any more like this, though.

Hello Jim,
what a great chapter. I'm loving reading this, plus I'm learning a little bit about electronics. I've never heard of micro ferrets. I'm not very mechanically inclined, although I've heard of condensers and capacitor, I wouldn't know what either item did. I've always had to pay someone else with more smarts to work on my stuff, at least until I got a boat with a Isuzu diesel engine. I could do minor stuff, like change the oil and filters every two hundred hours and change the belts and air and fuel filters. That thing ran for years and is still running. Thanks so much for this fine chapter buddy.
Have a blessed evening.
Tom

I too know next to nothing about electronics. Good thing Alan knows!

I don't know if you ever read my story called "My Time is Valuable" and its sequel "Update on My Time is Valuable," but they show the extent of my home repair ability in a somewhat humorous way.

This is an interesting chapter, and I learned a few things by reading it, right along with Tommy. LOL. The peach pie section made me hungry. It wounds like Alan is looking forward to being with Ginny again. I'm enjoying your book. Carol

Thank you, Carol. Peach pie a la mode happens to be my favorite dessert too. I guess it has a universal appeal!

Microferrets? Really? Haha! I really enjoyed Alan's descriptions of what to look for in the dehumidifier. Tommy already knew more than I do. I like the way you're developing Alan's gentle, mild-mannered, caring personality. He's also looking to be fair to his customers. As readers, we're already on his side and hope that nothing comes along to hurt him.

Yeah, you know, little baby ferrets with sharp teeth. Handle with care!

Wouldn't it be nice if Alan could just go on his merry way; however, you know a good novel always has a little conflict and suspense. Stay tuned!

Compressors, condensers, capacitors -- oh my!
But the best are great customers with peach pie!
I'm gonna learn about fixing things through this book! Great chapter!

I love it, Helen. Great spoof on the Wizard of Oz.

It's funny how a number of the women reviewers have mentioned the peach pie! It's my favorite dessert. I learned a lot too about fixin' stuff. I know next to nothing about it really. Good thing Alan knows!

I'm sure Ginnie will be very glad to hear about Tommy's first day and to hear from David/Alan. I do like this story and you're doing a good job writing about it.

Alright, do you know how a dehumidifier works?" I asked him. (you can omit 'him' we all know who he's talking to.)

Go get one that says 15 micro ferrets on it." (I think 'Get one that says 15 micro ferrets on it." ' sounds a little smoother for dialogue.)

Plus it gives Alan a good excuse to see her again!

Thanks for your great suggestions, Barbara.

I really like this. I was prejudiced before about the David/Alan character. I am very strong, and it is hard for me to feel sympathy for those who do not think things out and move forward to fix them. I apologize for poking him with a stick. He is very good with Tommy. Keep writing, and I'll keep reading. Karen

Thanks, Karen. David/Alan is learning, and he won't be like that forever. Part of this novel is to watch his growth as a person and development of a backbone.
