A person experiencing genuine sorrow suffers as much from the toxic positivity of others than anything else. A none too serious show of staged happiness only reminds them of the harm done.

Everybody does not celebrate Valentine's Day. It is just another day to some but for the ones who believe in making Valentine's Day special is a work of a happy heart.

Valentine's Day sucks for me! I am divorcing my husband who was the love of my life. I will not be sent flowers or candy. If cupid comes near me, I will kick him to the curb. You poem said it all. Nicely written. Good pictures too. Karen

This will perk you up. What do you call a clairvoyant midget who is on the run from the law?
A small medium at large! :-)

I'm still in love, but my love's not here anymore. Oh, Gypsy, won't you be my Valentine? Please let me know soon, or I'll have to ask Shelley Kate!! Only kidding! As usual, your words and presentation are beyond criticism and leave us wanting more!

Only kidding! I want to enjoy all the words both of you write, and don't want to start a rivalry.

I applaud you for creating a Valentine's Day poem that is sad, because it is a sad day for many. I feel it should be a day that celebrates all kinds of love. Excellent use of words that captures sad feelings, a broken heart and longing for love.

I agree with you, love should be celebrated every day and some people who have lost their loved one may be sad.
Thank you very much for reading and reviewing my poem.

I have always thought that Valentine's Day should be private and celebrated between just the two ~ but the commercialism has made it gaudy. I understand your point and feel remorse for those who are saddened at this time. Great and introspective write, Gypsy.

This one stanza jumped out at me: "How many blue dusks witness a river of teardrops tangled with disillusion." That was poetry. The rhythm was wafting, ephemeral, the images were dark and tangled, mysterious and yet something we have all experienced. This is a poem for all those who have watched lovers on Valentine's Day for years without feeling the joy themselves. It's like looking at a window full of toys you will never get on Christmas. Lots of emotion packed in here. estory

Unconditional love is celebrated every day. Some just haven't discovered that type of love, yet. Your poem is very well written and describes heart ache that many people know. I can see why Valentines Day would be heard for those people. We should be aware of them in our circle and reach out to them.

I'm not a huge fan of Valentines day. My husband used to buy my roses and chocolates. I finally told him a bouquet of flowers just out of the blue on a random Tuesday would mean so much more. Now we go to lunch or dinner and have a nice meal. Heart break sucks. Gretchen

I like this very much and I enjoyed listening to it. I could not read it because of the contrast with the text in the background but that being said it still is a good piece of work and I enjoyed it. I wish you the very best weekend. Patricia.
