The greatest part of cooking for one, yourself, it doesn't matter if anyone else likes it or not, just that you do. I, too, cook for one, me. And I enjoy every bite. Thanks for sharing another fine read. Wish I had a six.

Thank you for your supportive review. I'm glad you also can cook for yourself and enjoy it.

I enjoyed reading your story with it many mishaps. I too learned to cook the hard way making many mistakes as I went. My poor husband knew when he married me that I couldn't cook. Neither could he but before it was over we both became good cooks.

Thank you for your delightful review.
But at least you didn't starve to death but then we do become wonderful cooks.

You have certainly had an interesting collection of events revolving around food! It just further reinforces how stringent the requirements were at the convent.

Thank you for your insightful review. If you ever had a chance to take a look at my book the tour we were transported into the 16th century into a monastery. What was interesting is as I was studying what things were like in the 16th century it was sounding all too familiar the 20th century. That whole structure ended in 1968. I about 3 years after we got in there Thank the universe.

Liz, I don't know how the Sister did it?! The Sisters who taught me wore the same habit all year round, including the summer. Their faces were tightly rapped, and I'm sure the same can be said for their hair.
You've survived your cooking adventures. Pot roast is not as easy to cook well as people think. Cooking for One can be the best. I hope you set a nice table for yourself each night and truly enjoy your meal.
Your story is well told. Thank you for sharing so candidly.

This is good story about cooking misadventures. Only have one hand tonight so....... my cooking has more mistakes now than earlier, ice cream not so important when with a friend.

Thank you for your entertaining review. It sounds like you have injured your hand. If so, if you give me permission, I will dowse for healing for it.
-
My right hand cramped up and even a half hour of husbands massage did little. perhaps dowsing will help.
-
The problem cleared up overnight. Did you douse?
-
Yes ! I will continue for the troubled area
-
It is completely healed by tonight. Thank you.
-
Wonderful. Feel free to ask for any other need for dowsing. Thank you.

This is oddly pretty funny. I live under Murphy's Law. If something can go wrong, I will be in the middle of it. I am very adaptable, I have had to be. And I developed a big sense of humor. We live by faith. Answers are not always given, and we learn, or we choose to suffer. I believe that failing sometimes is an active choice. People might find my reasoning faulty, but it works for me. Good writing here. It sure got me thinking! Karen

Oh my! At least even with such disasters you savored the time with your dear ones. "Timothy" was able to bandaid up your big toe and that was better than the ice cream. And you enjoyed your alternate Thanksgiving meal with "Doolie" even thought the oven door did not properly close. You were flexible and enjoyed time with ones dear to you and that's the best part to remember.
I'm glad you can even imagine the laughter despite that cruel penance of the rigolet. You survived and can write about it. That's good!

Thank you for sharing what seems to be your obvious humiliation in wearing that rigolet in the heat of summer, and particularly with some heat given by you fellow noviciates, or perhaps seniors, and then a further accident, I'm so sorry Liz, well done, blessings Roy

Thank you for sharing these cooking fiscals with us. I couldn't help but laugh. I do understand the knife issue. For some reason knives and me are not on the same page. LOL I enjoyed reading.
