Great presentation of a thought-provoking and haunting poem.
Admittedly, I never heard of the ferryman before, but I truly enjoyed the reference.
Splendid!
Best wishes,
Mary

The term and thought of the underworld fills me with dread. I guess I think the worst. I like the afterlife. Sounds like an after party. Where the fun keeps on going. Lil. Beautiful poem. Gretchen

LoL. I love a creepy poem once in a while. Whenever I write one I think of an old fanstory friend who loved horror as much as I do. We wrote many poems together and wrote two books about horror haiku. He died in 2016 but his work is still available here. His name was Dean Kuch. His writing was similar to Allen Edward Poe. His presentations were breath taking. I learned some from him.
Thank you very much for your excellent review and kind words.

I loved Dean. He was truly gifted in horror, macabre and chilling writing. But you're no slouch, so never forget that. We all write differently. I adore your poetry. Gretchen

Since the ferryman is from the underworld, I prefer the Angle of Death, who was sent by God. Your descriptions paint images in our mind. That's a great thing. Thank you for sharing this presentation with us.

Yes, this is not a religious poem, it's mystical fantasy... mythology of Charon. My personal belief is Jesus Christ and the Father/Mother God.
Thank you very much for your excellent review and kind words.

Another fine poem, Gypsy----and I've decided to tell the ferry man when he comes for me, "go on without me, I'll catch the next one, I forgot, I think my ticket is in my other pants!

Thank you for the explanation of the tanka. It was very helpful in analyzing your words. I did enjoy the literary techniques your worked into your tankas. You have good personification, and the orange text fits the poem of the sun nicely. I also like the alliteration. Nicely done! Carol

A lovely and well constructed Tanka Suite Gypsy. The theme of interaction with the moon and stars... and then all of that is concluded with the ferryman. Wonderful concepts woven into this Suite. Very nicely done.

I like your suite of tanka poems. Before death, our days are regulated by the sun and moon. But after death, we don't have either because we will be beyond the physical realm.
