I like the novelty of his collection--octopus figurines. You set the scene very well and it's easy to visualize that blue and gold figurine coming to life. Your closing sentence does indeed surprise us as well as her. Rod

This is a little scary and freaky! There's something fascinating about octopuses. I heard a story about an aquarium that was losing very expensive and rare fish during the night. They installed cameras to catch the thief, and yes, it was an octopus who slithered in and out of his supposedly secure exhibit for a nightly snack!
