Ohhhh, now there's a totally WICKED surprise!! Glitter --the craft with a half-life heartier even than carbon! What kind of a sick little sadist designs THAT kind of "gift," I wonder!!

Great read, and I hope it does well for you in the contest!. xo

Thanks so much Rachelle. Came in fourth. Yes, who designs such things indeed?! What mind works that way? Bet they had fun designing it though! Thanks so much for reviewing.

I enjoyed your submission, but now I need to go on for another 150 characters to meet CEC requirements, which is not fun considering that requires as many words as your entry. Be well.

Thanks anyway. One certainly needs to be creative in writing reviews as well. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Oh my gosh, what an imp. To dismantle one of those cards would be like trying dismantling a ticking toy bomb.
Did you notice there is alliteration on almost every line? Fun.

Thanks so much Liz (and also for your clever observation!)
She's smart - she took a photo of the messages, then threw the card away into a nearby bin, singing its little heart out.

She had to be clever with him to outwit him.

Getting a Christmas card that plays continually would be so aggravating, and nerve-wrenching. Is there not a place where batteries are inserted so you can unplug them?

Lol. It's called a prankster card. The battery is very tiny, not plugged in. But if you try to pull it out the glitter comes out. Yep, annoying prank. Lucky she has a sense of humour.

What a unique and interesting card that would have, also a strong source of irritation for anyone unfortunate to be in the vicinity of it, beautifully written, blessings Roy

This is very funny! Unless you are the one that has to clean up all the glitter, haha! You provided a funny surprise at the end to what seemed like a sweet gift. I wish you the best in the contest and a happy New Year! Julie

I remember getting an irritating card that would not stop playing a muzak version of a popular card. I removed the battery. They are supposed to play when you open the card and stop when you shut them.

Thanks, Karen, for sharing. This is a prankster card which is designed so it does not stop when you close it.

Oh, maybe the one I tore apart was too! Haha Karen

Wonderful. I was surprised by the musical card. Cute. Unexpected. Cool font and image. Well written. Thanks for sharing. Those cards are my favorites. It was tough to get a great story with so few words, but this was great. Thanks, Theresa H.

Cute 80 word story, I love it. It would definitely be a surprise to have a card sing that long and be rigged with glitter. The grammar looked good, flow and structure too. I loved it. Happy New Year!
Keep writing :)

Ha! Nice! I have a sneaking suspicion that someone would need to get their car detailed in the coming weeks. That would not be a fun job, either, because as we know, glitter gets absolutely everywhere!! :)
