Hi Debbie,
This is a well done sonnet that tells a great story. It shows how animals seem to know when they are needed. It also shows how love can cure grief.
I am sad he got hit and died. But twelve years is good for a dog and it was long enough to bring your husband back to life.
Keep writing and stay healthy.
Have a great rest of the day and week.

This is such a sad poem about your dog Mumba. He turned up like an angel just when he was needed and stayed to ease an aching heart. I'm so. Sorry you lost him this way.

What a heartfelt piece. Dogs just bring so much joy and even healing into our lives, which your poem conveyed eloquently. So sad his life ended that way, but the happiness and healing he brought will never be forgotten.

Debbie, this is a heartfelt poem and very well written. It's the second poem I have seen today about a stray dog. What is remarkable about both poems is the story of the kind human who took care of the dogs and the amount of pleasure the dogs gave back to their humans.
All dogs go to heaven. Excellent. Terry.

Isn't it amazing how animals can bring healing into our lives? You have written a truly heartfelt verse about Mumba and the impact he had on your husband's life. Love always wins. Happy Thanksgiving.

Oh, how tragic that such a wonderful pet was lost in that way -- my sincere condolences. Our pets are a part of our family, and this one sounds like he was a very special part of yours. Your sonnet is a beautiful tribute (and I agree -- his soul has transitioned, without a doubt).

This has sad connotations but really is a happy story. This dog had healing powers and I do believe that the Creator will send spirit animals to comfort us at times of great turmoil.
When my wife's father passed, he was her greatest buddy whom she adored, a black cat showed up. For lack of a better term, it stalked her. met her in the driveway when she came home from work. Sat on her lap, feet, shoulders every chance it got. It was a HUGE comfort to her.
These creatures are blessings. Great read, Debbie!

Nice sonnet, Debbie. It amazes me how a dog can impact someone's life. We always had dogs until we got older. Now my sons and grandsons bring their dogs for visits.

a powerful and moving poem about how a dog can save one's soul. I had a dog once who stayed with me while I was recovering from a broken heel and was bedridden for almost six months.

A beautiful but very sad poem, and his photo is stunning. Dogs know and understand, and he chose your husband knowing he would be able to both receive and give love. I'm so happy he had such a happy life after his time as a stray, but sad he died so tragically. A pet's death and the ensuing grief are devastating.
