It's funny what Australia revolves its life around; the Boxing Day Test, AFL Grand Final and a bloody horse race! Now that I live in the US I miss all three, even though one can take a flying leap. think you can guess which one.

I'm guessing (clothes) horses?
I succumbed to the AFL after I got married. My husband is a one-eyed Geelong Cats supporter.

You sound like a lot of us Americans sound, during the Kentucky Derby in America, that sounds very similar, from your full description. This made me laugh. It's a great topic for a 100 word flash. I appreciate that you managed, also, to add the two words, Whoopie do. lol Those two words speak volumes; Great work for the challenge!
Best wishes,
Alex

Thanks for this Alex your words as always are encouraging and I have done a little editing without disturbing the word count.

Yes, I don't blame you! All a bit pretentious! Your 100 word flash reads well in those punchy short sentences but sometimes a lack of punctuation means I have to re-read e.g. "and pretty(,) as opposed to functional(,) shoes." Love the 'Whoopee do' which speaks volumes for your opinion of the charade. Great entry! Good luck! Debbie

Thank you, Debbie. You read the contempt well! Also thank you for the punctuation pointer; it is duly fixed.
