Hooray! The team has agreed to start up a whole new company to save the game! No one balked at the idea that Art is a ghost. But I am thinking it's a bit farfetched to link Calvin to kolven. If you google the meaning of "calvin" it means "bald". But you could say the golf ball is "bald." Lol.

Yes! A hairless golf ball. Exactly what I had in mind! Ah, you're way ahead of me, Helen.

Hmm, time travel, ghosts, and in the end the solution is to make a golf video game? or Simulator. Well, why not, it worked for Scrooge. The Ghost of Golf's past. I see you put your knowledge of some issue of Golf into play. Interesting. I wonder how other golfers would react.

I'm wondering that too! Wasn't it you who suggested I bring a few copies around to golf courses and try to sell them there? I may try to do that.

Getting behind a slow group drives my husband mad; in the winter in Florida, the courses are packed and it takes 5 hours to play a round.

In Florida, add this to wasted time playing a round: waiting for alligators to move and going around snakes:-)

You sure eat a lot of sandwiches, lol!

And now I know where the title comes from . . .

"Hi E.J., Abby and Kenny! We were inside your bodies in the past and were wondering whatever happened to that suit you designed?" This ought to be good:-)

It will be interesting to see how you write this next section, Jim.

Yep, that part is coming up on Monday. We'll see just what happened to it.

I sympathize with your husband. I think he would really like this simulator. I'll be getting a little more detailed with it, describing how some of the mechanisms will work.

The story has certainly evolved to a point now were the developmental apparatus surrounding the game has developed very well indeed, so that they are considering starting up a company with the initials of the designer of some goof courses is the inspiration behind it all, well done, blessings Roy

Thanks, Roy. It has taken a while to get here, but most everything has been revealed now (still a few surprises in store, though!)

This is really a great idea in the overcrowded and water poor world of the future. The suit to teach the best swing to an aspiring golfer would also be very useful. Did you have the idea for golf in the future being what the three guys are dreaming of before you began this book? Or is this what finally came as the answer as you were coming near the conclusion?

Thanks very much for the good review and the 6 stars, Carol.

I had a vague idea of the simulator at the start (even a few years ago when I first conceived of this story), but the details of it I worked out when I began writing Part 4. There will be a further discussion of how some of the different aspects of it will work coming up soon.

My son who lives in St. Louis has mentioned a few times that the hospital he works for sometimes, for team building, takes them to an indoor golf course. It's really expensive and not sure what all it has, but thought you might be interested. Thank you for sharing.

"Does that mean you're interested in pursuing this with me?" I asked him. (you can omit 'him', its understood)

things now that I will be finishing up within a month or so. (in dialogue it would be 'I'll)

after that, I would be free to devote full time to this." (same as before 'I'd')

I will give notice and quit my job, and we can form our own startup company. (I'll)

we will make a decision on whether or not to go forward with AC Golf. Agreed? (we'll)

It is either a good simulator (but not as good as mine!) or more likely a place called "Top Golf" which is becoming more popular these days. It features a party-like atmosphere and told it is a lot of fun, though I've never been to one.

Good suggestions for the dialogue. I will take them. Thanks!

Dialogue should be written as we speak. We speak in contractions.

You've got golf superheroes going on here! Where are the pink spandex and the far out blue shiny cape definitely needed!! Pretty cool idea they got going on. I'll have to see how that turns out too. Super heroes!
And I see no issues with spelling punctuation grammar, sentence structure, word choices, or subject matter. Another awesome installment and let's see how the awesomeness plays out! Thank you for this. I think it's an awesome submission. Really is trotting along really well. And a very engaging story, too. Even though i'm not a golf person, I can appreciate the drive...pun intended. Best of luck have an awesome day!

I don't know about superheroes but just guys who want others to be able to experience the same thrills they did when learning and playing the game. The nostalgic feelings about the game are very autobiographical (as if you couldn't tell!)

Two things to note: 1) The 'Spirit of Golf' came to mind long before you wrote it. 2) I'm no good for a venture capital loan!
The story moves on with your usual superb dialogue between the old friends. The feasibility of the project is surely not in doubt? We have all become so keen now for it to succeed.
Good to keep in mind the golf suit, which is one of your best ideas to date - could that be 'simulated' too? Or perhaps another trip down a wormhole to retrieve it - or could it be a reality and still in situ?
Lots of rabbit holes (without worms!)

Thank you, Jim.

Paul

Feasibility-wise, I had my son, who is a mechanical engineer, read over everything about the simulator (and there will be a fair amount more) and about the details of how some of these mechanisms will work, and I got his seal of approval for at least sounding somewhat convincing, if not totally practicable. In other words, they won't rely on magic to work, but might actually, kind of work the way I envision them working.

Look for that "wormhole" to retrieve the suit coming up in the next chapter!

Sorry Jim that I've been absent from the site for a few weeks, so I've jumped back in at this chapter which I really enjoyed. You are certainly displaying great originality and some very intriguing ideas. I hope this novel achieves great success; there must surely be a large, appreciative readership of Thinking Golfers, as well as history buffs and sf tragics!
Sincerely, Julie

Welcome back, Julie. I've missed your presence here at FS. You actually picked it back up at a good place, as we get to see how all the lessons they learned in their time travels get put to use now.

Thanks very much for your great review and the 6 stars!

You may have given up the game physically, but your brain will not let go. Forty-four chapters and continuing about a golf you are no longer obsessed with>>? Says you, not me, even though it gets more difficult daily. The natural talent God gave me has faded like gnarled knuckles to do any manual labor. Amusing though, how your mind thinks.
